"I'm tired of living for other people." he said,
as he brushed his fingerprint vertically down her lip.
The sun drifted behind a cloud
The room began to darken
He recited his strong opinions.

She glanced at his receding hairline
The prematurity of his maturity enticed her.
Scattered thoughts
of the knowledge that his head possessed
clouded her judgement

His wrist up her tights
Her mouth was dry, they leant in
A bitter kiss filled with passionate regret
Looking into his eyes she pressed herself up from the table
and left.

When I entered a cafe
on a particular friday
I saw a tall, lean guy
behind the counter
He had a pair of familiar eyes
I didn't remember
I took a good look
at the cut on his eyebrows
and it reminded me of the scar
I had on my right thigh
As he muttered,
"How can I help you?"
I forgot
how we were living
in bodies, trapping
our souls from
reaching each other
I didn't know him then
but I remembered his smile
I looked at him
in curiosity
wondering
if he remembered mine
The guy was no book
I couldn't read him
like a piece of literature
The guy was no song
I couldn't listen
to what his heart
was singing
The guy was no film
I couldn't watch
his entire life before
my eyes
But the guy was like
every other guy
so I dreamt a whole
lifetime with his presence
and I said,
"No, never mind,"
and walked away.

Today I feel like the
**** of a joke.
I feel like I'm back in
high school but not for
good reasons.
I don't like being talked to
in a condescending way
like I am nothing but a
burn out loser who deserves
no better than to go work
in fast food once I lose this job.
No, I'm not just going to walk
out of this place like an *******
quitter.
I may not be where I want to be
in life yet,
but just because I'm not
in College and my parents
don't pay for things
doesn't mean I won't succeed.
*******.
I hate working with all women.

I came home from work
and started watching
Louie,
and then I got a beer.
I drank and I watched.
And then I realized I
needed cigarettes
so I decided to take
a walk because I was
feeling a little tipsy.
On my way to the Village Pantry
it seemed like everyone
was looking at me.
I got my cigarettes
and walked back home.
I passed by a lake
and it was beautiful.
The world looks different
when you're walking.
Then I got home,
and took off my shirt
because the beer made me sweat.
So I took a shower.
I heard the neighbor's dog
barking and prayed that
no one was here,
for me.
The water felt good,
so I stood under the shower
head for awhile,
and debated messaging him,
and telling him how I feel.
Then of course I backed out,
so I grabbed another beer,
and sat back down on the couch,
and I was right back
where I started.

Its okay.
You don't have to tell me.
My poetry is crap.
I haven't written a decent poem
in over a month.

I'm beginning to wonder why
I even write anything in the first place.

Life continues even after you take your last breath
Love continues to grow even after you left
The sun continues to keep us warm
Rainbows still come after a storm
but I am no longer whole

your worth, it is nothing
you are nothing
you are nothing comparable
how can someone be compared?
you are unique to the highest degree
there is no definition for your beauty because your looks are more than a couple sentences
not only your looks
but you
look at you
look at you on the inside
do you see all the power you possess?
from every weakness you may have
to every strength you have
from every acne scar
to every single muscle which may or may not be defined
you are powerful in every sense of the word
you are powerful because you are human
you are powerful because you were made to be great
you are powerful
you are dynamic
you are wonderous
you are absolutely extraordinary
you are a story that I would love to read
you are more than how you view yourself because I view you as heavenly
you are absolutely breathtaking.

repeat after me,

I am absolutely breathtaking
I am absolutely breathtaking
I AM absolutely breathtaking

you are...

a million things that cannot be put into words.
A reminder to everyone, boy and/or girl. You are heavenly. I view you as such. You should too. Look in the mirror every single morning and remind yourself of that.
