My great grandmother,
passed away 10 years ago,
but last night,
she stood at my bedside.
She told me the story,
of the beautiful butterfly,
who feared to fly.
She told me,
this butterfly was beautiful,
much more than the rest.
Her wings shone of gold,
with a deep silver hue.
She was so beautiful,
but she always wept.
She feared,
her wings were broken.
Then came the day,
when she looked
towards the sky,
only to see the
rest of the butterflies
begin to fly.
That's when she realized,
now was her time.
She stretched out her wings,
and leapt off the vine.
She fluttered her wings,
and was lost to the sky.
She had faith in herself,
and her wings
carried her just fine.
I know you're watching over me great grandma. Send me butterflies from the other side.

I was happier as a martyr than I ever will be while serving myself.
Though my empathetic nature may put me at unease at times,
it is the happiness deep down within the cool, dark soil of my soul that truly matters.
I've tried so hard to change this essential part of my being,
because others told me that it made me weak,
but I see now what they fail to.
When I put myself first, I feel sick to my stomach.
There is an itch that desires to be scraped, and it is not anything that treating myself has the claws to scratch.
No, when I put others first, that is when I feel bigger than myself.
I don't feel like one of seven billion.
I don't feel like a speck in the space.
By helping and staying constantly connected to those around me--enemies and friends--I am spread out farther than I would be,
sitting inside myself.
Say what you want about me.
That I am weak and gullible and forgiving and target-worthy.
But in the end, I am happiest when I help others.
And in the end, the universe will feel the smallest, quickest brush on its hand.
And that brush will be me.
Am I breathing right?
Blinding beautiful world
Innovate and cultivate and consecrate
Glimmer of grace
Ameliorate the earth
Impossible soul
Light, follow the glow Sunflower Girl
We ran through the snow
My bare feet turning to stone
My soul warm and glittering
Like dust in a sunbeam
Like sun showers in the spring

You wrapped my feet in your coat
Chipped magenta nail polish
Sheltered in fuzzy flannel
Both your hands enveloped my frozen fingers
My cold consumed by your warmth

With melodies crackling through the stereo
We drove down infinite streets
Lights reflecting on the misty windshield
As if the colors were drawn to our laughter
Strikingly vibrant, like stained glass

I let the stars fade into insignificance
And allowed the clock to dissolve
In the euphoria of existence
In the acquaintance of adoration
In the feeling of your rough cheek on mine
With words that flow from an extension
of me
of blue and black ink
stains on my fingers
every loop every letter
it carves a record on page
each stroke opens wounds
delicately stitched now spews out
beautiful red ribbons
blood runs thicker —
thicker than water —
between the lines
it stains
blurred out by drops of tears
each one melts off like rain
pooling in the crevices of cuts
sliced open by the pen
this mixture of red and
sparkling concoction
stings,
         hurts,
                and heals.
"the thing about writing is
  i can't tell if it's healing
or destroying me." - rupi kaur

The shrill of metal
wailing through the night
Screams and shouts heard for miles
as the lawn is bright with light
The feeling of chills
through the bones of each member
The first note is played
the crowd cannot be contained
Singers voice echos
as the drums pound behind them
Each move made
Feeling the beat
*Feeling the energy
I've been to so many country concerts, but I'd do anything to travel back in time, and go to an 80's rock concert. Yes, some bands still preform now, but its not the same atmosphere.
My Dad once told me, "You thought country concerts were wild? You'd never been to a true rock concert then. The moment the guitar player lets out the first note, the energy in the crowd is unbelievable"
mfkdsios oh what i'd give!
