Everything burns, pierces and tears.
My head's blown to pieces by the force of these cares.

A word not spoken.
A stare gone too long.
A perfect plan ruined.
A beautiful song.

My heart is in shambles.
It's tortured and raw,
and riddled with holes that leak until there's a pool beneath my feet.
And I drown.

What I need is to be free
of all these things that hurt so much.
What I wish for is for nothing
to ever touch me again . . .

Bam Smash Break Crash Wham Whomp Kazoo

Your wish is my command and now well how'd ya do?

Nothing can touch me.
Yes! Finally!

. . .

Nothing can touch me . . .

Oh god, no.
Etc.

I am a simple mind.
Striving to survive.

My own intentions.

I'm not one of a kind.
Just the only one alive.

I've no dimension.

Some say that I am blind.
But somehow I survive.

Inside reflection.

Once upon a time.
My body was alive.

But now it seems to be just an extension
of my will and a prevention of my own
perverse pretension.

And all I ever wanted was direction.

Suddenly time becomes like a living thing,
a crushing weight that you have to endure
Fight the fight to go on,
Voice croaking, song unpure.

A second is an hour,
A minute a day,
Soaring high to be grounded.
Fleeing to stay.

Broken back, weary limbs,
Coerced by this fractured web,
Days are short, nights too long
Heartbeat and time start to ebb.

last night
I dreamt
that I got into
a fistfight
with Copernicus
because
he wouldn't agree
with me that
the universe seems
to revolve around
your smile

a flutter of wings
there is a chill in the air
the nest is empty
While at first read this may appear to be about parents confronting children growing up, this is a tribute to the passing of my mom. She passed away in Feb at age 46 quite unexpectedly after a brief illness. I got to spend the last 6 months with her - especially the last 6 weeks at the hospital bed (our NEST). She is gone now, and my nest is empty...and I am as much at a loss as a parent who has lost a child - if that makes any sense!

how better
to spend the day while
she sleeps peacefully
but listening to music

the Beatles
in particularly.
Catching a glimpse
occasionally

of her beautiful
peacefulness
wondering
does she dream of me

when I hear
Good Day Sunshine
I ache

to wake her up

She sees me, after I see her,
Aquatic blur.
Graceful, adept,
Hair, water swept.

Distorted features,
Adorned with creatures.
Observing my boat,
Master of float.

Moon beams dash,
Without a splash,
By my side
For one more tide

Barren eyes, bleak and lifeless,
         in the end,
         that’s how he left me,
feet half buried into the ground,
         breathing in the pain,
         while drowning in his silence.
