Intoxicated
TB Pihlajärvi Apr 2018
Drinking through the time of your life
you cannot feel if you’re dead or alive
day by day you’re fading away
dance of addiction is here to stay

drink the pain away
it’s time to leave today

Taking pills to ease the pain
feeling numb, inside the shame
day by day you’re fading away
no more lies just leave today

drink the pain away
it’s time to leave today

Days to weeks, weeks to months
no fresh air to fill your lungs
Days to weeks, weeks to months
intoxication is kicking in

Insanity
TB Pihlajärvi Apr 2018
Another night another fight
another glass of wine at sight
she pours herself onto the page
writing for hours but it’s all in her mind

She’s trying to hide her demons
never cared much for the angels
behind the door is where she’ll be.
Train of thought she can’t afford
but she’s trying to break through
from her mind that’s black and blue

Same old night same old fight
still those empty pages at sight
writing for hours at the time
but it’s still all in her mind

I'd Die For You
TB Pihlajärvi Apr 2018
you found me here, under unfaithful moon
you lift me up, higher than the sun at noon
when I’m looking to your eyes, it makes me realize
I’m not alone, when I have you by my side

if there’s no more tomorrow I won’t feel hollow
you’ve opened my eyes, like no one before
you’ve entered my heart, I’m never letting go
I’d die for you, oh how I love you so

I’ve broken promises, but that won’t change how I feel
and I’m sorry for those times when I wasn’t there
when I take my last breath you’ll be on my mind
and I’ll carry you with me through the time
This is actually written as a song to my 3 yr old daughter (she was 2 when i wrote it)

Absence of light
TB Pihlajärvi Apr 2018
Absence of light, after daylight dies
like the prey of the night
senses hunter in the sky
we’ll try to hide away
might not have another day

What have we learned, what will we find
out of the cold into the sun
we can learn how to love
we can learn how to hate
but we can’t change our fate
we can’t ever change our fate

A mystery now revealed
the way home no longer concealed
we only need to understand
how to navigate the land
the map draws the stars above
like a gateway that was gone
out in the night we’re
watching the sky,
awaiting for the sign

When the seven stars align
it's time to try and find
the path to home is long
will we make it through at all

— The End —
