you cannot equate my fate
with the likes of yours,
you cannot narrate
what i might endure,
you cannot gestate
the weight, nor labor,
because it predates
the state of our nature
but moving forward is
predicated on behavior
so i'll be a good neighbor
and do you the favor.

remember when we laughed
until our ribs hurt on adam’s
street? that was our genesis.

i miss having someone to confide in,
someone to provide a bit of guidance
when i'm riding the trident to the sirens.

i was taught to be a man
and manage my emotions,
but i wonder if i can just
get through the motions.

i have not heard your variation
in quite a while nor have i seen
a laugh in your smile.

A pocket full
of sunshine
to share some pure delight,

A pocket full
of shiny stars
to save for a really dark night.

A pocket full
of fairy dust
to sprinkle on the needy,

A pocket full
of dragon's breath
to fire at the greedy.

A pocket full
of raindrops
to wash away any impurities,

A pocket full
of umbrellas
to protect you from your insecurities.

A pocket full
of rainbows
to brighten up your skies,

A pocket full
of moonlight
to reflect the magic in your eyes.

our friendship is always there
prone to love and prone to tear
but our friendship is always there
and time is not eternal.
reconnecting and losing people has been crazy. you can never lose a friendship, no matter what separates you; years, months, weeks. the memories remain.

My friend tells me of this girl who he felt connected with him more
than anyone else.
How she breaks the mold of everyday life when he's with her.
I told him there's a girl like that in my life.

My friend says that if he was with a different girl,
it would feel like settling for less.
I told him I agreed with that.

He looked real serious.
He said,
"Do you ever wonder? If that girl,
the one who breaks the mold,
if she would just be settling for you?"

I had never thought of that before.
It was a cold time. I lay in the frost
alone, immobile and blue from the treacherous
air, but then you passed and lay with me just
to keep me warm, seeing something worth saving
in my empty eyes. It was a cold life.
Yet movement came back to me, dispelling
the ice and banishing it from my heart.
You were the fire for me, the fire that gave
me my sight and filled my eyes with starlight.
The fire that heated me and danced with a
scarlet tranquility in the night, calling
me forward into safety and saving
me from the wind which so harshly froze my being.
~~ In this moment you, you and your guitar, are singing just for me. ~~
