"It would hurt me", he whispered softly under the protective blanket of the night.

He held her closer in his arms, "You are my everything."

He paused. "It upsets me to see you unhappy. I want nothing more than your happiness..."

Another pause.

"So I understand if you left. If you left me, if you left this world."

He struggled to find the right words.

"I'd understand but it would still hurt."

Dirt Witch
I.
Our limbs
(winter - bared
to the cold)
paled
* orange peels in the pillow case
against the duvet (snow littered with tangerine skins)
feet spilling out the window into the garden beneath our bed
where hands nurture fruit grown in smoke and unfastening *
bunched tendons in our hands
compound torsos with the submission into, clawing for gravity of
(yes, love)
Of please - yes, love (love, love),
Of marbled - quaking , tongue - in - my - mouth - down - my - spine,  sun - in - my - eyes - when- we - touch love,
{feeling}
Rose -y yellow

II.
Periwinkle artifice
Interspaced with
Drip
Smear
Blur
Of cloud (silver gray)
Sun-splash on James Joyce
As February’s finger
Blushes spring

(You and your lustful multitudes)

Ntwari Poetry
Yesterday, I chased the stars
And what a miracle it was

Waltzing through the twilight
To the glimmer of distant stardust
And the song that wailed
From a heart I thought was dead

You chased the stars too
Hand in hand, we raced through a crystal night
With the dying winter's sun setting behind us
For a moment there, we remembered what innocence tasted like

And so we raced away
Deeper into the night
Excited for the brilliant summer days that awaited us
