First thing you see on the evening news
Mama cries in a sea of camera crews
She pleas for justice but we just stop and stare.
We could do so much better if we tried to care.
Mama's back to work after a week to grieve.
She can't help but wear her broken heart on her sleeve.
She breaks down and says "I need more time."
Boss says "sorry. There's the unemployment line."
We don't need to change the world.
We just need to change our minds.
We'll see things in a different light
when we pull back the curtains and blinds.
If we remember how to listen to what people say,
Maybe we can find our way back to better days

Famous only to himself,
his legacy waits

A servant of the moment
—time left to abate

only by imagining
that I am not the sky
may I step back and see it
through these bright and mortal eyes

and I will hold the knowledge
of this beauty to the end
when one day I will close my eyes
and be the sky again

A raging success
or colossal failure

Anything else

Wrapped inside a moment,
reasons tied the bow

Excuses thrown into the trash,
where wasted pleadings go

The gift of time majestic,
when given free of tense

A present there beneath your tree
—its treasure heaven sent

Do you ever,
just sit with your head in your hands
wiping your lonely tears
remembering...

One More Time

I have been smoking outside
In this cold harsh winter's night
Thinking about the lies
That I have said to get you by my side,
All these plans that I had made
Is now full of regrets
As the cigarette burns away
It reminds me of how you walked away
I swear I will change, I will change for good
If you give me one last chance
So, darling don't think twice
And fall for me one more time

Whatever song you'll hum
while you drive is like a rhapsody
to my heart.
we'd have our fingers interlaced
and our hair
feeling the caress
of midnight breeze
as we speed at the highway
looking our way
to forever.

Nothing

nothing means nothing
it never has been
and some people say
there is no such thing

nothing means nothing
for there are no words
to spell out a sound
that no one has heard

nothing means nothing
the threads are so thin
a hurricane spins
on a butterfly's wing

like sparrows that fall
we all are so small
but nothing means nothing
nothing at all
