the person you are
and the person you want to become
bear the same roots.
you are already her,
you just haven't learned how to be.
putting yourself back together is treacherous,
but you don't have to do it alone.

your very existence is rooted in worth:
the 12 percent of carbon in your body
is the same carbon that creates diamonds under pressure.
the .2 milligrams of gold in your blood
is the same gold people spend a lifetime trying to earn,
and having you in my life makes me richer
than I'd ever be with money.

broken is not synonymous with useless.
no matter how many pieces
make up a mosaic,
it will still reflect light.
I hope one day you see all of the good that I see in you.

When we meet,
I am unsure
Of what to say
To you
Because
Everything I've ever wanted
To say,
Has either been turned
Into a poem
Or into a memory.

I don't think
You'll meet one person
Who would tell you
They decided to fall in love

Red is red

Its just that pushing a river
Won't change its course
But going with the flow
Brings you to the ocean

Blue is blue

The jokers
They have a god
A Ramen deity
To show how mad
All of it is
In a few hundred years
They'll forget
They were joking
Maybe less.
Possibly

Your mind-  it's too young.
Knows not the truth of the world.
I suppose its the reason why I adore you.

Your innocence, your purity,
Your heart, your soul, all intact.
All the things I've lost and watched shatter before my eyes.

You admire my physicality
Not my soul
For you do not appreciate the existence of one that is pure, and undamaged.

The kind that you have.

One day you will.
And you will understand,
Why we couldn't be together.

And if that day arrives
I will be here
Still adoring your everything just the same.
For a friend from high school
called to scour these transient shores
i am slammed against graffitti'd walls
by winds of hate
and waves of steel
in silent vigil
i caress the promise time has made
the place that fate holds for me
i can see
i can touch
i will find
at the end of this storm
