I am
A street without a name
A pictureless frame
A dull knife
A still life

I am
A question mark
A smothered spark
An unread book
A stolen look

I am
A blank page
An empty stage
A heavy sigh
A passer-by

I am
A ship with paper sails
A train on rusted rails
A flightless bird
A Dream Deferred

I am
An overcrowded mind
A word that hasn't been defined
A lighthouse that no longer stands
Two feet sinking in the sand.

Nostalgia always
Keeps me awake through the night
I wish it would leave.

Sometimes we like to cry hard,
To be asked "whats wrong"
In order to be hugged
Told we belong.

Deep end
 Mar 2015 Anneke
Eccentric
Thrown into the deep end
It was impossible to reach
Thrown into the deep end
Its something they couldn't teach
The art of survival, a fight for air
Or ignoring yet another stare
From fish insignificant but i could not foresee;
They own these oceans; its their territory
Indeed a peculiar enigma, left with no choice but to imitate
Or be stuck in an unwelcoming fate
A better status to those who dont conform
I could feel my cartilage being born
I didnt look like the rest, didnt feel like them either
Something was confusing about this prochedure
No scales, only the gills made me feel similar...
Something shining within me, so many sparks
Throw me into the deep end and i'll be swimming with the sharks.

Scrolling through the internet
I see the world
The beauty of these places
The different countries
The culture
When will I get out of here
See the world without my phone

The clouds are thin
Like a piece of silk
They keep rolling in
In a blue glass as milk
Warm and tender
Of white, yellow, and fire
With the air, they linger
As if they don't get tired
They're our fleecy goodbye
From the light in our eyes
Weightless of all
Though leaves a sullen fall
But truest promise
Lives as it leaves
We're tomorrow's fate
On horizon's brightest gate
