I don’t know what I was waiting for from you.
After you half-consciously walked out of the room, opened the window to look back in,
just to hurt me, to see the wall that had sprung up between us,
the one you’d always blamed on me, but that we both remember you building yourself.

But from what I’ll always remember,
you were the slippery eel, the leech, in the strength and weakness of my life,

where there's medicines that might aid and I might add

by and far my favored Nyquil night-time
is the stuff I get my snooze from

if you've got a fever and it's green
you're infected, should be seen
do not delay if it is grey
or other colors of the day
because these bugs are nasty
downright mean!

cozy up with Vicks upon your chest
mentholatum tends to clear the passage best
a little dab will also do
beneath the nares it is true
external balms and lotions help you rest.

a clean humidifier by the bed
keeps the moisture in your tissues
and that said
keep a box of Kleenex near
the softest kind will feel most dear
and place your favorite pillow 'neath your head.

It's good to keep some chicken soup on hand
it's value has been known throughout the land
keep the heat on, be a ***** and
and crack the window just a pinch
and try to sleep as much as you can stand.

in time you will recover from this hell
your symptoms will subside and you can tell
but be sure to keep your guard up,
avoid crowds
and don't be hard up,
just insist they keep their distance,
and stay well!

I take a flu shot each and every year
And I had a pneumonia vaccine so I didn’t fear
Guess that’s why my *** wasn’t in gear
When the symptoms initially began to appear
I relied on RobiTussin instead
And wound up being a day from dead
When the ambulance was called I was code red
We’re off to Lenox Hill Hospital the driver said

Caught a bad case of pneumonia
Weeks before the Coronavirus hit
Which was something I thought that I couldn’t get
And it really had me feeling like a *******
But I was lucky I have to admit
As I lie there struggling to catch my breath
The hospital had plenty of ventilators left
No need to condole or to be bereft

My family gathered in intensive care
To the person they were acutely aware
That I didn’t have a lot of time to spare
Which gave them all a great big scare
But I told the woman in my life
That I would make it, see she was my wife
So she allowed the doctors to intubate me
That’s why today I’m pneumonia free

For a while it was a crap shoot I  must confess
When my temperature went up I became a hot mess
But the nurses and doctors were among the best
So they induced a coma so I wouldn’t digress
My chances of survival were a mere 50/50
And that kind of diagnosis just isn’t nifty
It was only when they decided to shift me
From the ICU that I began to heal swiftly

I was hanging out with this girl

I just didn't care.

We were sipping,
I was doing the most of it
so I was drunk then,
and drunker when I said,
"I'm just going to pass out."

"Maybe I'll just leave,"
she said.

Yea whatever.

Her footsteps
were ice on glass,
I didn't even count them
as she broke out.

She left the bottle
she brought over.

So I've still got some business
to finish with this
$9 Evan Williams ****,
but all the ****
in the world
couldn't contain
the boredom
of my lonesome.

Sometimes a girl
makes you bored.

Sometimes
she makes
you think.

That's when you get
apathetic
as hell,
when you're chilling
with a girl made of ice and glass
instead of a girl
that makes you think
about what she's made of;
what you're made of;
what anything certain
is made of.

Sometimes
you end up
with nothing
and cheap liquor
tastes like Robitussin
on ice.

Most guys lead away from being themselves...
As if attaching from their bodies to live to be someone they aren't only to get women..
Fitting in to be accepted, as if you said, "Let me not be who I really am.
There's a girl I've been digging since freshman year but the guys she likes, I'm nothing like them...
I mean I bought her flowers, but I'm not the most muscular, I'm thin and I'm slim.
Well maybe if I tell her she's a bad *****, I'm considered cool...
Let me deduct her with these words, since it's the norm to be cruel...
I mean, I see the other dudes do it and everything seems right.
Let me wear the latest Jordans since that's what these girls like..

The girl I once bought flowers is now about to give me head...
I mean I thought she was beautiful but now she looks used.

I feel a little bad but my ego surely doesn't.
Besides I'm drunk and high, and I've been sipping on robitussin.

I then forget those thoughts as she  slowly gets on her knees.
The feeling I felt, she had brains on her like a college scholar.
I mean she did graduate top of her class and this pleasure was an honor roll...
