venus
it feels like everthing in falling apart
youre being torn to pieces
no one will text you back
youre going to fail
you will fail
you will
he is a despicable person
i dont reallly want to think right now
i want to be stardust
go away so people dont exist
i am floating
insead of falling
because when you are falling
no one is catching you
but when youre floating
you dont want to be caught

I See Her

zebra
i see her
and my shadow grows
gold like Harlows hair

then to
black
like a digested sun
and the music of a gnawing universe
with whelping teeth
and melting white candles
gets me dancing
like a dragging needle
through grieving flesh

she droops
like a thick cloud
bending towards me
a sky in flames
in a torn dress

and her kisses whip through me
like wind through mists

the moment a poet
falls in love with you

is the moment
you live

They told me
You are worth your weight in gold.
I replied
Thanks for you kind words
Good thing I carry a lot of weight
You might need to go to Fort Knox
To pay me what I’m worth.
So pack up the bags and prepare the cars
And make sure you have a lot of gas.
They asked, But don’t you want to take an airplane.
I told them, I want them to see me coming
And going in laughter
All the way to the bank.

I had been dreaming
about eating bruised peaches
that grew from a tree
by the river, its water
thick and sweet as sap.

I thought I saw an old woman
shaking her dustmop,
but it was only the moon
and stardust in the dark
that never stops.

In the fields
there was something barren
like a journey
and echoes of salt
sprinkling on a table
with food laid out for a wake.

The fog from the dream
by the river was smothering;
I was suffocating lying there
where it is said a young mother
once walked into the water
with the pockets of her dress
stuffed full of smooth rocks.

I woke when I heard
shouting that tore out the light
as night came flying by
like a bird dressed for a feast
wearing his finest black feathers.

If tomorrow was my last
I'd do nothing.
I wouldn't skydive
I wouldn't travel
I wouldn't do everything
I've ever wanted to do.

If tomorrow was my last
I'd do as always.
I'd get up
I'd read my bible
I'd go to school
and have an average day.

If tomorrow was my last
I'd act as normal.
I'd smile to others
I'd say "hello"
I'd do my best
as I try every day.

If tomorrow was my last
I'd tell no one.
I wouldn't shout it
I wouldn't scream it
I wouldn't sing it
from every single rooftop.

If tomorrow was my last
I'd never know it.
That's why my usual
day to day consists
of all things I love
the very most.

If tomorrow were my very last
what I do today would be enough.
It would make me smile
It would make me laugh
It would make me happy
Because I have learned always
to be content in the ordinary.

Chained soul
I want to be the reason someone
can laugh and smile
I want to be the reason someone
walks a mile
I want someone to wake up
to every day
I want someone who knows
what to say
I want some place I can feel
at peace
I want my body and mind to
feel some release
