I could be talkative if I wanted to
but I worry that I might say the wrong thing
or say too much
or be annoying
I don't want to be annoying or too much
I don't want to burden people with
spewing words out
I don't want them to feel obligated to listen
so instead I shut my mouth
and become the quiet kid
therefore I won't be bothersome
all that pain
and belittlement
you served me
day and night
when no one
was looking
made the little
man within you
feel much, much,
much bigger
but now you
stand before me
weeping
with no teeth
and the big man
within me
has forgiven you.
Sometimes it's better
To not have ever
Even tried
"Never say never"
Should come with a disclaimer
Spread wide

Watch for the tide
Current's make a deadly ride
Try to remember
More people than not have lied
Wrong and right often mingle on the same side
A good person's not even a contender

I wanted so bad to be done with the fight
I no longer cared 'bout who's wrong and who's right

~ Couplet ~
A pair of consecutive lines of poetry that create a complete thought or idea. The lines often have a similar syllabic patterns, called a meter. While most couplets rhyme, not all do.
~
The word Couplet is French for a "little pair"

I once held hands with a stranger.

I'm not sure if I've ever felt closer
To another human being.

It was innocence.

It was beautiful.

It was a surprise.
You were always my mirror,
And I, merely a reflection,
Of your love, your kindness,
The laughter in your eyes.
mirror, merely... playing
