The night and the seekers
Waiting for the light
To give a name to a longing

Reaching for worlds I've never known
Reaching for people I hardly know
Reaching for heights unknown
But mostly reaching for a hand to hold

have you felt life
palpitating your eardrums out of sleep
entrenched in expectation,

the telltale heartbeat of the morning
tapping, rapping at your door

the sweet dalliance with insomnia
under a moonlight sonnata
and the ardent awaiting of awaking?

not me,
I sleep

If I added up all my scars,
across my arms and over my hips,
I could stitch them up,
into untold stories and engrave them on my skin,
so everyone could see,
the vulnerability within.

If I spread my wounds across a canvas,
purple, blue, red, and other hues,
creeping on rippled fabric like stars in the night sky,
I’d create galaxies,
with craters, suns and moons,
constellations of healing wounds.

You are a boy of metal
One who doesn't recognize his own value
Precious metals all the same
Their sum only equals your eyes
And neglects the rest of everything you are
Pure silver ringed along your pupils
And gold dancing across the edges
Gallium words melt my heart
This periodic table of you
Guess you could say this boy and I have some... chemistry......

Mountains

Aspen
As scattered ideas come together
As emotions flood my soul
Mountains of papers on the floor
Mountains of words come to mind
But in the end, these mountains form a mountain chain
called a poem
Mountains: a large natural elevation of the earth's surface rising abruptly from the surrounding level; a large steep hill.
Day 22 of the month long poetry prompt challenge...
sorry school has been really hectic recently so I haven't really been posting...but I will try to catch up.

Rain on me

Rain on me,
I have been longing to be free.
Lost in my world, needlessly.

Rain on me,
I am tired of fighting but I will not sleep.
I refuse to be reigned and I refuse to be a sheep.

Rain on me
and show me the way.
This place is empty and I cannot stay.

Rain on me
because it has been too long.
I am sick and tired of pretending to be strong.

Rain on me,
I want to see the lightning pierce the sky.
As the thunder roars and the clouds fly.

Rain on me.
Let the winds take my mind to another land.
No one needs to know and no one needs to understand.
