Put on your ***** hat, grab your Kibbles—
Let that cat out of your bag
Celebrate your business, Womyn
Whether you be sprite or hag . . .
Which is which? You make us wonder
(as you hate on the head-of state)
What you're packing. Woman-thunder
Promises to titillate.
Lead us men into our future
Show us where we've gone astray.
Shine that light of Matriarchy
As we stumble on our way.
Pure emotion lights your gender.
Superficial party-lines
Tie us up. A *****-******
Just might straighten out your signs.
Talking-points at intersections
Promise to inflame the game.
Seeking brave new world directions
Ought to shift some blame.

PROMPT #23: write a poem about an animal.
Dani Jan 2018
Before the thunder coats my lungs I whisper soft

The storm is a cacophony of pink that flows between slow and stop.
In every direction, pointed hats and sharp signs
stinging words and biting looks
phrases dotted with peaches and comb-overs
hardened women fiercer than the surging wind.

I had never imagined feeling so powerful until
50,000 women
and men and nonbinary friends
engulfed my senses in magenta and bubblegum
and lightning struck 100,000 times in the space of two blocks.

Tonight I sit lackadaisical
After a week of the last routine
I think back to the start on the mall
The roaring chants of the scene

Has it been a decade
Or only a month
How much longer do we have to go
As shovel by *****
Both millions of times and once
We find the final, finishing blow

Tonight I sit, exhausted
Just thinking about what comes next
Because one senior week, I've lost it
And, politically, I don't have a plan for the rest

Then I think of that day in D.C.
Shouting "This is what democracy looks like!"
Pink ***** hats as far as eyes could see
And millions worldwide trying to get things right

I sit in this booth, so ******* worn out
Just knowing that we've still just begun
I chastise myself for being inactive
It, and sometimes I just want to run

But then I see comics speak on air
And I see some postcards in a store
And I feel like we can really get there
If we keep at it a little more

The black woman is more valuable to the earth than diamonds or gold
She is powerful, strong, she is fire providing warmth to those in the cold
The black woman is more beautiful than the sand in the Caribbean sea
Her eyes shine brighter than the red of a ruby
The black woman is the only one born with the capabilities of raising black boy to black man in America
The only one that has proven herself strong enough to brace the cold winds of slavery, systematic racism and oppression
The black woman, her heart divine, her soul connected to the divine
The black woman, her womb a mine of gold,  constantly being robbed
Lives constantly being stolen, We care about black lives outside the womb, but what about within. More lives being taken from us, what about our next of kin?
Why do we keep falling for America's sin?

Hey you! In the ******-hat,
frumpy feminist dressed in pink;
we men (what do you make of that)
would love to know just what you think.

We've heard of "***-hats", anyway.
But we can see the other side:
it's orificial bombs away
as bridegrooms now behold the bride.

Gynecology on parade:
how weird. You think it makes your point?
It's more a vaginal charade,
and promises to disappoint.

You say your cap evokes your *****;
feline foolishness, I say.
It's cat in bag when fems get fussy
showing patriarchs the way.

Show us yours and we'll show our own.
Well actually, it's kind of cold
to whip it out right here downtown...
We'll grant you this: you chicks are bold.

Your choice-aborted progeny,
disposed of in the clinic's trash,
might blame you for misogyny—
though spared the curse of diaper rash.

We'll keep abreast of all you do,
chanting, marching, fists in air...
yet still, you seem a silly crew
aflush with zeal (and ***** hair).

But must it always come to this:
biology devoid of God ?
Exteriorizing, hit and miss,
the secrets of your aging ***...

Trevor Blevins Jan 2017
Millions of brave women take to the streets
To defy the government's tendencies,
The head of the serpent the main oppressor
Set to be severed by those who bring life into the world
Suffering for the other half of humanity,
As they think freely,
Create art,
Dream in philosophy
And sit lonely in scarlet clouds of disdain for the political system ripping out their hearts.

Some people march in a band
For sports fans in the grandstands

Some march in the military
On bases from Hawaii to Italy

Some people march to be heard
Over all the events that occured

And on Saturday, amongst the crowd's clatter
I'm joining those who are doing the latter
