Had a chat with my cat.
Now how about that?
She spoke with a twitch of whisker
and slow blinked her eyes to whisper
that she’s feeling quite content
to be in this moment.
For though she’s told me her life story
of all the times she’s been crowned in glory
by defeating her toy mice —
which is really not a vice —
it’s in the here and now
with no sweat upon her brow
that she’s glad to becuddle me
and from worry be wild and free.
Watch her fur belly rise and fall
and her purr keeps me in her thrall
as I scratch her fluffy chin
and feel peace spread within.

She knows it
When you hiss
You don't like her
She has learnt you
She knows she's just a toy
For you, kitty!
But for my scars
They wish for vengeance
For your capture
So when you find yourself
In a cage of your own making
You should try to learn
Not to hiss at
The hand that feeds you

I wonder if my cat knows
she’s helped me keep going
a few times
by just choosing to sit in my lap

but about cat ladies,
with cats attached

who most like their
fel~ine femin~ine
mistresses, also
come in many colors,
categories, shapes ‘n
sizes

looking to adopt a
pair of cute kiddies,
with promises of
much stroking and
endless affection to
fill the void in my
currently, sadly, totally
animal~less existence

But!

we want a pair,
cat & cat lady,
for how a woman
treats her cat is
the single best
indicator of how

she loves to love
poets, who are
most like cats,
needy for exchanging
purrings and many
other endearing
sounds and belly
stroking, inclusive
of the frequent
recitations of
onlylovepoetry

(a tiny amount of
mutual scratching
is to be happily
expected as well)

My sweet autumn kitten, how you’ve grown,  
Yet your silly face remains so small.  
It is what I find in you most charming;  
In fact, you are Prince Charming.  
Sun spots on my bed craze your little head.  
I wish I could have grabbed the sun from the earthly dome,  
Wrapped for you in a fuzzy towel.  
Your eyes would be as large as that of an owl,  
And all the radiant mice would perish in your paws,

I hope you are ok wherever you are. There isn’t a day that goes by when I don't think about you. My dreams always seem to involve reuniting with you again. I know I probably never will be able to but my brain is only showing me my greatest desire.

I’m not sure how to continue. Honestly, I’m not sure it’s worth it anymore. Your life was the most precious thing to me and I failed you. I wish to reunite with you one day Patches, tell me where you are and I’ll follow you there, even if it’s to the depths of Hell, I don’t care. I just want my life with you back. I want my reason to live back
