love is/heartbreak is
summer-lynne Jun 2017
Love is...
love is feeling like you're with them, by simply listening to a song. your song
love is being able to talk about them for hours, never hitting the same topic twice
love is never wanting to look away from them, and their forgiving eyes
love is the feeling of safety and comfort while being held in their arms
Love is such an incredible force, but alas, it ends in heartbreak.  heartbreak is...
heartbreak is songs that you learned just for them, now ruined
heartbreak is wincing when their name comes up in conversation
heartbreak is not being able to look at them because they don't look at you like they used to
heartbreak is the realization that you will never feel their safe arms around you again.

As easy as it is to fall in love, it is equally easy for one to fall out of love, but heartbreak is the part that hurts the most. The final impact after falling for so long, so hard. Heartbreak is the hard part of love, that no one thinks about before letting themselves fall.

Happiness?
summer-lynne Mar 2017
What is happiness?
It’s different for every person, although
it may be similar for few.
But what is it exactly?
Sure, it's smiling, laughing, feeling nice,
like you want to capture the moment
and replay it forever.
Maybe your happiness is a person.
Seeing them smile, makes you smile,
hearing them laugh makes your heart
skip a beat, just taking a
glimpse at them makes your
stomach flutter with butterflies.
And their eyes? Well their eyes make
everything calm.
That is nice, but what if happiness
doesn't really exist? I mean, it's only
a combination of different chemicals
in your brain.
What if happiness is only an absence of sadness?

monsters
summer-lynne Jun 2017
it's a mess this world
the deafening sound of sirens and screams
fall from the tv
while the tears fall from your cheeks

another loud crack followed by screams
its happened again
a man with a gun
another distressing tragedy

all too soon
the most innocent people take their last breath
to a man with a gun
surrounded by large, dark crimson pools

you quickly change the channel with a click
as you hear the squeaky floorboards
it's your little one running in
saying she's ready to go to sleep

she asks you to check for monsters
in the closet
under the bed
but what a misfortune to have to explain

you won't find them in the closet or under the bed
you'll find them on the streets
because monsters are real
they just live in our heads.
