Scars

"I want to see it."*
No.
It's ugly and it's a burdensome
and it shows weakness.
"Love, it's just a scar."
No.
It's unprepossessing and it's crooked
and it shows weakness.
"It doesn't. It shows strength."
...Yes.
It's healed and it's powerful
and it shows strength.
But I still don't like it

You are a poem
Comparing your white skin to paper
Blue veins to blue lines
your story written on you
like the ink on this paper

beware when you fall in love
with an artist
be it a painter, a singer, or poet

for the artist will
paint you
with strokes and hues
in shapes of every kind

sing about you
with heartbreak lyrics
and feelings which rhyme

write about you
with the simplest words
and a secret message she wants to say

beware of the artist,
and her love
one wrong move
and you're an artwork in her display
You changed,
You changed
I walked a way
To keep myself
I lost the game.
The game,
The game,
You were not fair
It was a war
I left you there.
You’re there,
You’re there,
And there you’ll stay.
You play the game.
I’ve walked away.
Things have been said about me that are not true. He thinks I am the enemy, that I hurt him on purpose, but its all in his head. He wants to see me as the one who started the war, so he's justified in fighting me.  He thinks I left him to hurt him, but I left him to stop myself from getting hurt.

you said that
you love it when it rains.
little did you know that
it rains
whenever i shed a tear.
maybe that's why
you seem happy
even if i'm hurt;
you enjoy
whenever i cry.
and i'll always end up
exchanging your sorrow
for my euphoria,
in hopes of you
loving the rain—
me, my tears, and my pain.
