Champ
McLeod May 2019
A new day, press play, a challenge for one.
Solo for I, never won.
Spawned like magic, 100 people? That’s tragic.
Less would I prefer,
From the bus, I jump and glide
From the wailing heights, I go to a bush and hide.
Found a camp, a player I’ve tramped,
One closer to being a champ.

Many people less, beginning to stress,
Loot everywhere, what a mess!
In this battle, I thought I would be fine,
But in the distance, I saw a white line,
With the numbers of sixty-nine,
A soccer skin! A soccer skin! Oh God, oh why?
Building fast as the speed of light,
All I knew that it could be a hard fight.
Because, with death in my mind, I didn’t know what to do,
Thoughts boggled up, like the texture of goo.
I placed a trap on the wall of wood,
I waited suddenly, wondering when they would,
Yes! I caught them with my trap!
One closer to being a champ.

Found a vehicle of an interesting shape,
Bouncy like a ball, all around, on the landscape,
A Baller! Yes! Now I’m glad,
But no need to use it, I got a launchpad!
However, I could bounce around, Boom! Bam! and Pow!
Then I could tell them, “who’s laughing now?”
However now, I’m in the final two,
I shot his build down, if only he knew,
Now it is over, show off with a ramp,
Now I’ve become the champ.
This is a Fortnite based poem, written at the beginning of season 9

the dark crashes onto me like the bang of the drum

suddenly it's only you

i'm so sick of life

sick of living for you

except

i can't

but sometimes i wonder how it'd feel

to burn up in the sun and live my life as a shriveled up piece of skin

to float through space

see the stars and all the life

i could witness a million things

and lose you

but i wanna see the stars

but you refuse to tag along

plus nobody likes a backseat driver

which i know you'd be

and i feel like i'd love it once in a while

just look at you for a second instead of a brand new galaxies

i could taste all the elements

i could sit on a beach as it rains glass

and i don't need you and your stench

or your pretty green eyes

in a way you're a whole new world, too

all bottled up and i think it's fascinating the way no one's discovered you

but you know what you aren't really that cute

except when you really laugh

like, a genuine, real-life laugh

it's the sweetest thing i've ever heard

like a whole new form of communication

almost better than hearing a child speak

but i like silence, too

i guess it's been a long day

maybe we should talk tomorrow

i'll meet you at the launchpad

(blue

your eyes are actually

blue)

Standing on a launchpad
I was readied for a push
Countdown had begun
The trajectory was set
And I was prepared,
For a journey unmade

The gush of fire beneath
Had ****** me up
And as the fuel burned,
I moved ahead
Against the friction
Of atmosphere
Against the Earth's
Gravity
Into the
Stratosphere.

I left behind
The ball of life
Traveled beyond,
Much beyond
into the abyss of
Space

I surpassed the red Mars
Towards the Giant.
Jupiter!
That's where I was headed,
A journey that was
Never before made.

Through the dark of
Space
Through the unseen
Light
Traveling in
Time
Traversing the
Unknown
I finally touched
The ****** soil,
Of Jupiter.

A journey that was
Never before made,
Is now, a journey
Accomplished.

The Jupiter is on the launchpad.
The count down  is proceeding smooth.
On board there's a crew of robots;
for Man there is no room.

Yes, those androids look like us;
and, once, there was a time
when human Scientists themselves
designed some android minds.

Now AI has progressed so far
that circumstance demands
that the designers of this crew for space
must have titanium hands.

This crew will never tire.
they need no food to eat.
Radiation that would **** a man
they'll easily defeat.

The distances in space are vast
at even half the speed of light.
This robot crew will long  endure
after my last good night.

There are headed for Tau Ceti.
Exoplanets there abound.
They'll transmit their data findings
to those here on the ground.

I worry for Posterity;
Fear clouds my troubled mind.
Once  our species were explorers
now we're  forever left behind.
A bit of Science fiction about the launch of the Jupiter 1 exoplanet explorer

gleams of sunshine
sprinkle divinity upon my eyelashes
cement under my body-
                            a solid launchpad

clear divisions of shadow and light

brisk air fills my lungs and
   makes me free
(freedom is all you strive for
when you’re a slave to expectations)

there's 3 varieties of rock
scouted from the hillside
at the foot of the launchpad.

I LOAD UP ANGER,
IN ALL OF ITS FROZEN AND FIERY SHARPNESS
WEIGHING DOWN THE MECHANISM
WITH ALL OF MY EXPECTATIONS
TO THROW AT THESE UNFEELING WALLS

to simmer and smoulder
before impact
like a whispered promise.

(i reach for silence)
(the underhandedness catching my fingers)
(drawing blood over the drawstring)
(sending another part of me in its flightpath)

it never reaches the sky
you can't fire a non-feeling
as much as we wish we could.

The castle walls remain up, the remains of a young man were recently disposed of by the guards, cause of death?
Trying too hard.

Dig a little deeper, lets see what we can find
Rumours from another mouth, this person's past is a goldmine
Nosey are we, trying to find a deficit in their will
Social media the perfect launchpad, to see if they fit the bill
Who do they know and where do they live, are they on the dole in some ****** flat getting ****** in front of their kids,
Or am I entirely wrong, they have an outstanding job, a Porsche on the drive, thank God for this social dig
For we now have the tools, the hidden prosperity to judge, without even meeting the persons content
Oh hang on, wait, they dated way back at school
That was 20 years ago, surly they have changed,
Let's not be made to look a fool
It is in our psyche, this need to know, if it's there then take a look
A quick google search, sat on our judgemental perch, let this Pawn meet their Rook
But times they must change, from school we have rearranged, our lives to read from a different book
As now its so public, downloads in our pocket, this tool which acts as our own,

Social shovel
