RIPPLES
Ripples of you touch make me wonder
Ripples of your essence trespass my slumber
Ripples of your words now echo in my mind
Ripples of your past now invade present time
Ripples of joy wrinkles of memories
Ripples of dread of what could no more be
Ripples of feelings I try to submerge
Ripples of nostalgia set free in me to surge
Ripples of broken pieces of love deep within
Ripples of tears and passion deeper than skin
Ripples of hurt pride envy and shame
Ripples of etchings deep inside of your name
Ripples of trust broken and kept
Ripples of promises which forever slept
Ripples of what has been or may be
Ripples of life please set me free
The war on life

Ripples
John Prophet Aug 2018
We enter
this realm,
like a pebble
into a
pond.
Immediately
we leave
ripples.
As we
move along,
the ripples
grow
interacting
with other
ripples
an ocean
of ripples.
Our ripples
commingle
influence.
Cascading
influence
over time.
Positive ripples
or
negative, greedy
ripples.
Which will we
leave behind?
In the end,
will it be
about power
and money,
or,
the ripples
of kindness
that will change
it all, and
reflect
well
on our
passage.
Jim Davis Mar 2017
Take this flat, round, stone
I told my son, and daughter too
Throw it hard, spinning it
Across the stilled pond
Count your big splashes
Watch the ripples grow

First stones they threw
Only singular sets of ripples
Then two, then three, then more
Eventually, their stones, with mine
Easily reached the other shore
Splashes, into ripples galore

Ripples formed by casted rocks
Have they lasting print upon
Hearts of those I've loved
Standing now on faraway shores
Gleefully leaping, dancing, tossing
Skipping stones hid in their pockets

Are my stones, living on in ripples
Marked indelible in memories
Cast in mind's marble and stone
A forever legacy or merely
A dimly lit fading thought
In minds and hearts forlorn

Once, when I was young
I knew, I could ripple the world
Now, I only hope a weary rest
To lay burden upon the shore
Enfeebled arm, for slinging stones
Pond's winter death, comes nigh

A bit of time left, of sweet life
To cast a few more stones
Boulders, to toss into the river
Giving the biggest splash
Heavy to lift, except with help
From other believers in ripples

Ok, fellow believers, here is my pitiful effort following my recently posted short stanza "Ripples".  Playing with the word "ripple" and  thinking about the idea of the "butterfly effect'.  Keep believing!  "I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples." -Mother Teresa
Ripples of fervent gratitude
Flow out from my thankful mind
I feel the ripples cycle back
They are never far behind

Ripples from my loving actions
Though tiny - can help you smile
And when you smile, you pass it on
The ripples flow for a while

Ripples from my forgiving choice
When feelings get hurt a tad
Help both of us to let it go
And make our hearts feel glad

Ripples from our prosperity
Build increased life for all
Our sharing makes a difference
Whether it’s big or small

You are important. You are here for a reason. Your actions influence more people than you might imagine. Energy follows thought - so even the simplest blessing visualized for another will help them out.

In this "Ripples" poem I've described some specific ways these ripples might flow, from specific actions. You and I can do better in our actions and our thoughts when we understand the ripple principle.

One moment can hit the core of our soul
Creating ripples, reaching out to unseen shores
Long before we realize, the ripples fade away
Leaving us with the moment which has sunk deep
For its weight we have to carry, memories do not fade
Somewhere in the bottomless pit of our life, it remains
Coastlines have long faded away, as it was only ripples
Which just touched the edge, and kissed it goodbye
Long before we realize, the ripples fade away
Leaving us, with its far-reaching effects

The more timid side of the maple leaves rustles along the wind

It's silvery sheen swings from side to side

Perhaps signalling to a long lost love not yet forgotten

From an once upon distant dream

No one knows if the ripples in the air will carry along the message

Till it reaches the land of forsaken things

But still

          The lone tree sings

As I cross it

I stumble onto a different reflection of yearning:

As I wade through the river of wild flowers,

and greet the leaves with thorns as wings

The catkins hop onto me

A wave of small needle sharp pain attempts to send off their well wishes with me

Not knowing that the scratches on my being

The messages they try so desperately to depart with

The telegrams of little bumps and lines on my skin

Will never leave with me

Like the ripples in the air

The ripples through the grass

The ripples of pain that momentarily made its presence well known throughout me

Will dissipate as soon as they form

          And be forgotten by me

All efforts of remembering and wanting to be remembered seem useless in the grand scheme of things

Still, within the palpitations of life, every pedal and every blade of grass resumes

          Its dance around me

Every seed of memory still holds onto me

And still

I try to find you within these things

Like fireflies seeking companions in the night sky

Only to find more warmth within embers of a more humble height

Of course, I did not find you in them

I only found myself seeking your presence

Even though you seem to exist within every breath I breathe

Disappointed, I went away for the night

As I was about to drift off to a more slumbering dream

Hoping for better fortunes in my aimless seeking

I saw you

I saw you within my tea

I saw you through

The starless ripples within memories oceans deep

And as it reunites with the milk and honey

The sky became complete

Every drop was an universe

And within:

Every speck was you and me.

Constructive or Destructive are the interference
Depending on the time lapse between the ripples
Meet they to communicate through vibration
Vibration from one differs in frequency
To that of another....

Feelings make ripples of energy
Of varying wavelength and frequency
And to hide it all we use the numbing technique
Language comes along to help hide feelings

Why oh why would we use so much language
When we can read each other through the vibrations
We just have to prolong this journey of unknowing
By pretending to know it all we fool ourselves

Taking moments to learn the language of silence
I must surrender the desire to know it all
In that silence the fog is lifted to make known
What the frequency is telling me in the now
It tells me that I am the frequency with which
God makes music and with which God loves

May I observe the energy of the ripples
Sitting in silence by the riverside
May I throw in a stone or two
To observe the ripples and think of
The ripples that are countless around me
Making music and making love with each other

The next evening,
when the showers came,
I saw countless ripples on the surface of the lake,
each running in concentric circles
against the outward pushing circles of those around…

And when the rain intensified,
I saw the ripples dancing themselves into some frenzy,
pushing themselves harder against one another,
harder against one another...
And he said:
Only the drop not with the ripples
know the depth and spread of the lake.

Alone, that night, long after the rain had gone,
I found not a speck of the real
reflected on the lake.
Neither the stars, nor the moon.
Everything went out of purpose
into a slithering, twisting, rolling,
dance of the unreal, as the wind continued to howl.

I waited for the ripples to dance out their dance.
The myriad things take shape and rise to activity,
but I watch them fall back to their repose,
like vegetation that luxuriently grows,
but return to the soil from which it springs.

Bitter Ripples

Wondering,
if the universe flinched,
when God took you away.*
- dakota

Will I grace your thoughts when the moment comes?
Will your universe come to a complete standstill?
Will you choke back your tears...
Or by the buckets would they fill?

This pain in my heart
What is it?
I know now it's love
I know now I was bit...

I clutch my chest and begin to think...
Of the splintered shard I had failed to extract
I feel subdued and ultimately shattered
By the crushing bitter ripples of a broken pact

I'm hurting much
But strangely so...
I'm beginning to savour it
More than you know...
Line taken off dakota's 10w - "These words are not mine to keep" for Frank's "Let's Do A Line!" challenge.

Her quote caught my eye and heart the moment I read it and thought, "Wow... That's a great quote!"

It made me think and reflect on my place in the universe. Wondered if whatever I felt would send out ripples into the universe around me.

Thank you dakota for this inspiring this write...
