Light-Bulb
Rebecca D Aug 2015
Life is a light bulb.
We begin this life as children,
fresh out of the box,
faithful that the light will always shine.
Smiling faces are illuminated
with careless smiles.
As we age,
the flawless glass embarks on a journey
to dusty, *****, darkness.
Flickering on again, off again.
Flicker, flicker, flicker.
The more we grow,
the dimmer life becomes.
Gleamy turns to gloomy.
Bright ideas fade into obscurity.
Slowly but surely it begins to fade to grey.
The warmth gradually dissolves.
We desperately, frantically search for
the childish light we once held,
and shared to mightily with the world.
We soon realize,
there is no more light to be shared.
Flicker, flicker, flicker.
Suddenly,
All too suddenly. . .

The bulb burns out.
We are left in the cold.

My life is a light bulb
and it's flickering away.

letting go
Rebecca D Aug 2015
i'm feeling out of touch.
maybe i feel too much...
my heart was yours to clutch,
but you've let that go.

what have you done to me?
this has not been easy.
you want me back, but honestly
i've let you go too.

For the Love of a Daughter
Rebecca D Aug 2015
For the love of a daughter,
God, what have I done?
Have you left me,
Or have I left you?
Am I not worthy, God,
Tell me the truth.
For the love of a daughter,
Tell me:
Do you consider me as one of yours?
It's been so long.
So terribly long
Since we've spoken last.
It is my fault.
My wrongdoing.
Honest to you, Dear God
I am afraid.
I am terrified.
I am tired
Of making mistakes.
I wish to come home,
Do you want me there?
Please,
Help me come home
For the love of a daughter.
