I just read some poetry
in a big collection of real poets.
I was living in a fools paradise.
I thought I was getting better.
After three long years slogging
out one piece of crap after the other.
I have decided
if you read a poem
you feed your soul for one day.
if you write a poem
you sentence your soul
to a lifetime
of self doubt and frustration.

Staring at the night sky
Thinking what its like to be in your arms
How your voice can soothe my mind

Then reality strikes
That we went on our separate ways
Because of one event that I still regret today

people these days
are our solitary
point of reference

unless we're old enough
to recall 'back in the day'
to compare smoke signals

with cellphone signals; well
most of us can't even
speak or 'read' Morse.*

her walls
my axe
breaking
breaking
she is out

no more than a sidewalk poet
at the intersection of life
tossing imagination
onto the faces passing by

adding a twist to the situation
enhancing other lives
where the truth is, gets quite the kick
purveyor of the times

days spent down on the corner
as the sun is sitting high
with a wink and a nod in knowing
puts it all to rhyme

I heard this song once
trumpets of adrenaline
and beats of joy
combined to shoot my heart
with the best drug
my body has ever tasted

I heard this song once
it was 1 am, with drums
of elation mixed with decadent vibrations
my eyes couldn't handle it
they cried with joy

I heard this song once
in the back seat of a car
my limbs awakened
with movements reaching
higher for something better

I heard this song once
with drops of emotions
repeating, beating, dropping
with ineffable beauty
that words went silent

I heard this song once
my whole being shook
to the sound
that music can gift
and
my soul
moaned
with
pleasure

One day I will burn too bright and the world will see
I will represent the small stars of the shining city

But please always remember that I have the habit of collapsing
At night time, I will hide for a while and shed the tears that felt like eternity

But don't even think about me because I want you to know the reality
Sometimes the sun also loses and stop shining like how it used to be

And everyone will fear the fact that they will lose their liberty
And theories will be molded and everything will collide in a blink of an eye

But don't worry though because after all,
Collision is always needed to create another galaxy
