Every morning when I say,
hello and there you are to stay.
You've given my life meaning,
and on you sometimes I'm leaning,
but you're always happy to leave me there,
on your shoulder for me you'll bare.
I can't start to express how you've helped me,
to get me so honest,
and loveing,
and so carefree.
My problems just aren't that big anymore,
and that's all because of you since you've gotten to my core.
There's parts of me I've shown no one else,
and you're always there to give me help.
Time will go one and things will fade,
but you'll always be there to make my day.
Her words fell out into
the darkness of her car,
my vision blurry
from the tears flowing
from my eyes

She wipes them away

Her kisses feel like a goodbye
but in my heart
in my veins
in the way the sun rises every morning
I know that she will find her way back to me
that no matter how long we are apart
working on making ourselves the best versions
of who we are meant to be
I know that
she will come back

We hurt so much
because we hurt ourselves
we didn't want any more damage
even though her saying
we need time apart
felt like I was losing a part of myself

She wants to be the best version of herself
for her
but also for me
and my heart will continue to beat
with those words

I know she'll find her way back to me

She is the sun rising every morning
to greet my waking eyes

Annoying
I find you very annoying
Because you are so much better than me
In every single way

You are a better singer
You’re smarter
You’re more athletic
You’re happier
You’re prettier
You have more friends
More guys like you
And you always steal my attention

Which by the way
I almost never get
Even on my birthday
You somehow find a way to outshine me

So yes you annoy me
Because you’re a better me
Better than I’ll ever be
V
Vexatious
You are so vexatious
Because you steal all of my friends
All of my thunder

You play the innocent girl
But you make these subtle
But extremely snide remarks

You play modest
But you succeed in almost everything
And when you’re just a little bit off
You whine and whine

And I’m just here
With my low accomplishments
Thinking, if you think how you’re doing is bad
Then what about me
after swearing you would never hurt her
you discarded her along with all the other pretty hopeless things
not broken (NEVER broken)
but anachronistic, paradoxical, incongruous
a past that won’t leave the present.

glimmering tears falling in the dark
unseen, muffled, tracing the fossils of his breath on her cheek.

a sequin dress on the living room floor
with a naked moon child sticking a head out the window
still suffocating.

eyeliner wings searching for halos
but turning up empty
knowing angels don’t exist in her world-
laughing at the thought.

when you, a ghost, moved towards the light
(even though you see a new light every day-
never her, always something, still not enough)
you left her in the blackness of your discarded dreams
like a tool you had no more use for.

ghost stories are meant to scare little girls into sleeping with guns and walking with keys interlaced between fumbling fingers
and as he fades into that ghost from her story
she will try to sleep.

disbelief in ghosts
does not stop them from haunting your dreams
nor stop you from becoming one yourself.

she’s stuck in a timeline that moved on without her
watching like a ghost as life around her naively continues (how? do they still believe?)
hand over mouth to prevent escaped screams
phone in pocket to prevent escaped words

he must not know.
admitting she is still here
is admitting she is pretty hopeless
on her own.
I am trying
to keep my head above water...
and avoid looking at you
if i mistakenly do
I will sink so deeply
air will no longer be
a familiarity
not even a privilege
simply nonexistent
instead
i will solely breathe you in
