summer is fast approaching

here comes the shorten shorts
the chopped up jeans
and the showy shirts with the split sides

summer is fast approaching

the beach parties are on
and the flip flops are out
the kegs are filled up, ready for action

summer is fast approaching

beach ***** are blown up
bathing suits are selling out
cars are filled with gas, ready to go

summer is fast approaching

i'm inside
fully clothed
awaiting for winter to come
i'm not much of a fan of summer
Dream of me
At night when
You're safe
In your bed

Think of me
When your hands
Are idle

But don't
Make me stay

???
I am like a tree
Swaying with the wind
Resisting

But over time,
branches crack and fall
One by one

Eventually, I am left with nothing but the sound
of my body breaking
Crashing to the ground
Spring brings me memories
That I cannot remember
They are commonly found in
Scents
The iron smell of after-rain and before-rain, too
The slightly musty smell of my bedroom
And flower-smell strengthened by that rain
The light
Hitting just so on my old mustard yellow desk and chair
Filtering through soggy leaves and grey clouds
Filling the air with gentle gold
The feel
The feel of the rough grain on the brown-grey weathered porch
The touch of old blankets
The worn ropes on the hammock
Where I lay
On cotton pillows
And read of fantastic journeys
And feel content with the new beginnings
And long-forgotten memories of spring
Wish I knew where this poem was going. Sometimes I don't know what I'm even writing about- is that a bad thing?

Sleep, my love,
For the night has come
Rest your eyes
Unwind

Softly covered from head to toe
I sent a kiss with what I know,
Arms openly inviting
Closing up ever so tightly,
And feeling your infinite warmth,
All around me.

I miss your lips

On me

Like rain

On window panes

Like leaves

On a winters day

Like the lighting on your skin

When it's against me,

Ready to win.
