Society is a murderer,
With its pictures and words;
Convincing girls they aren't pretty enough
For the entire world.
Making girls go thin,
By rejecting things to eat.
It shuts minds down,
And Ignites depression.
First a little flame,
Sure to turn to a roaring fire.
Society is a monster,
And it's hiding under everyone's beds.

Yesterday,
I went for a jog,
in the fog.

It was there that I saw,
a man and his dog.
On the sand and sog,
through a natural smog,
hopping over a driftwood log.

A Lake Michigan wave
yes, it's those that I crave.
It's this moment now,
I'd like to save.
And I'm feeling so brave
just me and a wave.

A population of me,
and all I can see
is my feet
that beat
so quietly.

That's all that can be
my own little key
to simply
being
free.
We often say,
" Save me,"
as if it were
possible at all.

like catching
all the world's
waterfalls

like breathing
a fireball

like dogs playing
basketball

But those don't work,
and neither does our wish.

Hopeless
like words on the lips of fish

Try as you might
but your attempts will always
be dismissed.

The hope of salvation is
self-love that persists.
love thy self.
know thy self.
save thy self.

i hope i left a gap in your life
the way losing a tooth leaves a hole in your mouth
and you keep running your tounge over
where it used to be

a Butterfly lands on a hand
just before the trigger finger pulls
and lets loose a bullet
the Butterfly alights on a breeze
and flies towards a flower

Like all the wind that moves the seas
As time floats down
Like leaves off trees
And all the colour of black and white
The fades of eyes as dark as light

Like all the things I choose to see
So thick the air that i once breathed
With soft the touch and light as sand
As all the grains fall through my hands

But as you stare into my eyes
And reach your soul into my mind
The opposites appear and then subtract
As time starts still and white is black

You speak your voice and make it clear
To follow the truths that now appear
To make the most of what i have
Embrace the start do not look back

My blue eyed friend for now I see
The voice you speak can calm the seas
And grow the leaves back on the trees
While all the colours stay the same
The grains of sand remain in my hands

And most of all for what has changed
The fades of eyes as dark as light
The brightness subsides so I can see
The blue eyed girl in front of me

And all the words she has to speak
So thick the air that I once breathed
Is now a whisper is now a stream
Is now a smile within my dream
Always left out
Black sheep of it all
I don't know why I try so hard
For people who've never cared
My eyes are beautiful, she says.
She must dig the haunted, empty look.

My smile is gorgeous, she says.
My tongue has felt those chips and nicks far too often to agree.

My arms look strong, she says.
I am surprised—she’s seen the scars.

My hands stir her, she says.
There is nothing elegant about them.

She loves me too, she says.
Even as we recall all the times I traumatized her.

She will never leave me, she says.
Dear God—that’s what I was afraid of.

She’d never do better than me, she says.
At that, I bite my tongue.

She doesn’t know what I see in her, she says.
And this, I think, is why we keep each other around.
