You are not a plot of land
A heavy stone
A bouquet of plastic flowers
You are not planted tree
A day on the calendar
A place to visit
You are not a rope
An abundance of pills
A hospital bed
You are a smile
A tear shed
A memory shared
You are light
A lesson
A path to forgiveness
You are a wish
A hope
A prayer
You are love
You are love

Cat must you always come in
in and out
around and about
then put your cold paws on my skin?
I have always let you win
with your nosy little snout
then with a clout
you tip over the cups in that bin!

But mistress! The bin is intriguing
I'm sorry for all my trouble
and the doors can be oh so deceiving
when they shut I take tumbles
but I go on believing
you'll love me double
when I make my way back inside

She just lays in my lap
Most of the time
When she doesn't
She plays with my hair
Bating it back and forth
She looks at me with her
Big hazel eyes
Her fur so soft
And pure
I'll never let her go

And one cold fall day
The cats come out to play
As the cold wind whips
The cats purr and lick
Roaming through the narrow streets
Meowing cats black and sleek
On top of still cars
Content and undisturbed so far
Running and jumping and whipping their tails
Climbing rails and making trails
A cold breeze nips their noses
As they sniff around for roses
But all that's in the air
Is a cold fall breeze bare
Bitter and freezing
But the cats continue scheming
Unaware of their effect in large numbers
They run out of the way of motors
On that cold fall day
That the cats come out to play

One has to speak their language - Cats
a snotty, snooty breed
Don't try to tell them what to do
Don't get them down when they are treed

They'll come down when they want to
when they hear the opening whirr
where can opener meets cat food
they'll walk out of that tree as if it wasn't there
and swish their tail as if to say
"it's nothing"

But, Oh, the softest love they have
when on your lap they softly purr
or stroking all that silky fur
and all the stress of passing days
so soon becomes a milky haze
and flys away, forgotten now
She loves you dear, there is no doubt
Adopt a pet today... there are so many, so many who need a home and love. they were put here for us to take care of

I will tell you I love you
by saying nothing

Spring breezes on a lazy day
Blows dreams across the air
Waiting for tomorrow
Hoping wishes do come true
