The Lunchtime Poet
The weight of the world on my shoulders
Almost too much to bear
Knees starting to buckle
Sometimes life isn't fair

I won't give in
I'll fight the fight
Every day
and every night

It's me alone
against them all
That's the reason
I must not fall

On me alone
Your life does depend
I will care for you
Till the very end

Things have gotten in the way
many people have tried
These things I have overcome
I will not be denied

Providing for you
at this I can not fail
Sheer determination
That's how I will prevail

I'll never let you down
giving nothing but my best
Always putting you first
so lay your fears to rest

teardrops of providence,
intricately kissing the glass
with paint upon their lips.

grunts of a god,
bellows heard from below,
counting the seconds

the numen flashes,
if only for a second
to warn others
calculating the distance

neurons and skin,
reflections in water,
ponderous panting
and her mind is like a

repeat
'twas written whilst the rain poured onto the roof of my conservatory

Just Melz
She lost her mind caught in a web of lies laced with deceit
Tangled in knots made of suicidal thoughts left on the concrete

She lost her heart in the aftermath of an unrequited love
With more passion and pain than she could ever have dreamed of

She lost her soul to a man she didn't know and can never get it back
Crying inside and constantly on the verge of an anxiety attack

She lost her faith in life with so little to show for all that she'd done
Burning all the bridges she'd carefully built, fading away from everyone

I once knew a girl with a giant heart
Beautiful, sweet and awful smart
But far too kind and too naive
To give so much, and not receive

She would smile and satisfy
but at night, she would cry
She would sacrifice in secrecy
and weep in secret frequently

But in our eyes, she was blessed
So we didn't see her one request
Her scream of help wasn't heard
And gone, she was like a manakin bird.
I am back again after a week vacation. Where I was reminded of an old friend I lost because of ignorance. A fake smile can hide an ocean of sorrow.
