Lighting
Oh so beautiful
Lighting up the sky
Long, fingerlike projectiles
Racing through the darkness
Lighting everything in its path
Yet, child, be wary
It is not unlike a leopard
Sleek and graceful
Yet dangerous if you attempt to harness it
'Tis akin to a wild animal
Yet so beautiful

Please, take life slow, because we never know.

As you cried on my shoulder,
it watered the flowers that you planted in my chest.

To kindle a fire,
the autumn winds have piled
a few dead leaves.

It ends with a scream.
A scream that echoes across the entire city.
She doesn’t sink to her knees.
She collapses.
It’s not beautiful.
It’s heartbreaking and raw.

Eyes burning like torches
Searching mine for that eureka moment that screamed I LOVE HER
That moment never came
we were reminded that our childhood daydreams were just that

Be brave enough
to catch
