May you remember to stand up straight
May your spines be flagpoles
Sailing your heart at full mast
The caps in your knees full of steel
Unstoppable in your travels of Alaskan tundra

Let your mind grow roots in your culture
May your hunger for knowledge
Be that of a (amaguq) wolf
Never give up on yourselves
For I will never give up on you
Teaching in a classroom full of Inupaiq eskimo children. You can never understand a culture until you are immersed into it. These kids are teaching me each and every day.
To all the soldiers serving now
To those who served in other wars

Born of your courage, strength and might
The freedom that you sought is ours

Because of you we can but say
A humble prayer of thanks today
Well I'm just a light bulb, and you deserve the stars.
I'm so beautiful when reflected in your eyes.
The ink in your pen froze from the ice stirring in her heart and now I'm beginning to ask myself if that's why everything you write to me feels like frostbite on my tongue
The wind in the park was strong today
The ducks were floating and dodge-ing
like in a shooting gallery
There were no guns shooting at them
but, they kept ducking anyway
ducking and dodging the wind
