My life was peaceful
Everything was so serene
All the days were joyful
How I wish it would still be clean

This life that's supposed to be peaceful
Everything should have been serene
All the days supposed to be joyful
Down I beg this will all turn clean
This is the begininng of a series of poems that tell a story that I thought of.

In my hands I carry:
my rings,
my book
with my favorite
poems,
my blue ink pen
and my picture of
you and me.

Inside my head I carry:
my memories both
sad and happy,
my loving family,
my imagination
of an infinite blue sky,
and a dream
that never will be true.

All in all my baggage is light,
but the sun still doesn't seem bright
on my side.

Acceptance: the idea behind reality
We do not question what is plain to see
An 'ideal world'; an accepting mentality
Finding the truth, perhaps curiosity is the key

Ignorance of opinion, the flaw of many
Clouded is their vision with conceit
Think they know better than any, they do
Awakened only by defeat

Always a higher power
living under their control
Our lives; theirs, every minute, every hour
The purpose of clout the sole

Some wish probity upon all
Some hunger for power
The main support, the bottom of the tower;
Acceptance when fear is in call

Seeds planted will grow strong
Curiosity the root, singing its song
The mind the greatest weapon of all
Abused or guided, it can go wrong
Ideas birthed, rise then fall

Trust in the sheppard, power bestowed
To lead his sheep down the best road
To provide a safe world for their young's nativity
Freedom of mind or life in captivity

Accept it easily some may
Some question it and turn it away
Existence and reality rely on perception
Oppose or accept, that is the question

Forgotten Heart
I saw you
then
I adored you
then
I loved you
then
I missed you
then
I yearned for you
And now
I'm scared
because
I feel like
I'm starting
to hate you
:'(

The Human Race

We are naturally wary of different
Our anticipatory
Participation in fear
Blinds us from the signs
That classification
Of the population
Fuels separation
In our great nation
And the degradation
Of our education
Through miscommunication
Due to deprivation
Of alleviation
As far as the segregation
Taking its formation
In our imagination?
These bounds we set
To set us apart
Take hold in heart
Because we impart
The notion of racism
Through our pride
Proud to be black
Proud to be white
Proud to be
Whatever it is that is me.
I’m sure it is right
Though I did not choose
No I wasn’t trusted with choice
I wasn’t given an option
No opinion to voice
I came as I am
I came as man
With no color in mind
Nor hate in heart
A patch of untrodden
Still smoothed soft snowflakes
Unscathed by the treads
Of worn down soles.
No limits exist
To whom
They were never shown
Never taught
Through words or by deed
Never separated
Through race or creed
Disparity through diversification
Norms forming cult cultures
Secluded islands of identifiers
Imprisoned in our tradition
Caught up in the familial familiarity
Of being a drop in a raincloud
Growing heavier each summer day
Until the burden bursts
Out in thunderous roar.
And yet the race will remain
Runners at their mark
Pushing to get ahead of the pack
Forgetting there is no finish-line
Since it was never a race at all.
Race only exists in the minds of man.

THIS **** ******* *****!
You have deleted every profile picture
and cover photo with us in it,
Ten times out of Ten you changed
your laptop background of all the pictures
of us,
Forgot the song that you gave us 3 years ago,
changed your cell phone background,
deleted the cell phone pictures,
Go to sleep without thinking a bit about me,
Talk about me casually to people like I
pretty much don’t ******* exist,
And to top it all off,
You are probably the happiest you’ve ever been.
Like our relationship was nothing but handcuffs of burden
you were dying to break out of.
I guess my lies and stupid decisions were memory cards
large enough to completely erase all of our past data -
How is this so easy for you?
How is walking around campus easy for you?
How is going home alone easy for you?
How is cooking alone easy for you?
How is sleeping alone easy for you?
We have marked our forevers on every inch of this
25,000 populated resident.
I can’t go 3 feet without remembering a time where
we were here, and there, and EVERYWHERE.
How we held hands on every speck of the sidewalks,
How our favorite bus seat is now unoccupied,
And our short cuts that weren’t really short cuts,
just flatter ground to walk on because you were so
lazy to walk that way is now a ghost filled alley
of “I don’t give a ****”

What also ***** is I still do all of your habits.
Like put my sides of food on top of one another.
Or how I turn off the lights when I leave a room,
Or how I now buy that Gain powdery washing
stuff for my clothes
Or how I turn off the sink when I’m brushing my teeth,
AND how even though I am not lactose intolerant like you are,
I STILL BUY LACTAID MILK!
WHY?!
I DON’T ******* KNOW!

My mom always told me I will learn everything the hard way.
I guess I wasn’t meant to get my first real relationship
right the first time around.
Heartbreak.
I would rather wish for God to come take back his Saints
but leave me on earth’s dying wasteland
than this.
I feel like I am wasting my time saving myself for that
hint of what if called, faith
but then doubt comes along and says,
She’s gone.
She’s never coming back.
Ever.
Move. On.

It’s so hard for me.
What harder is that I know it’s easy for you.

Love is Lethal

Love is a powerful force
And comes in many shades and hues
It is a beast gnawing away at our heart
A beggar seeking shelter in our soul
A stitch in our side nagging us
Taking attention away
From the tasks at hand
Love brings woe as well as wealth
It is a fire sparked within the heart
Not started by flint or match
But by the embers of our soul
Catching with the wind and spreading to another
Though the flames provide us with warmth
And give us the sensation that makes life go on,
The flame uncontrolled can burn
It sears not the flesh with its heat
But that sense of self found only within man
Passion is poison
Love is lethal
Most importantly
Love drives a person to live
Yet will accompany us to the grave
Serving as the undertaker

Aren't we all hiding behind lies,
Stuck staring at the window pane.
Meaningless disparity lashing out within
A feud between the soul and the mind.
Washed out skin, colourless eyes
Most of the time, exhibiting tyranny.

Isn't it obvious, why we spent so much time
With our heads bowed down, on our knees,
Begging for mercy.
Even as the sirens go off inside our heads,
Distracted by all the fallacy.

What if we just stopped for a second,
Lift our eyes upto the skies?
Maybe wonder why there are so many stars,
Hung up so high.
Why do we try to find ways to look down and feel lost
When all we need is a little love, to give and behold.

Time

We sit there and we wonder
What the hell are we doing
What is the point to this life
Why am I still moving
Time doesn't stop
It goes it's own pace
It punishes us
In so many different ways
It slows when we need it to quicken
It quickens when we need it to slow
The time is always ticking
Watching our silly little show
We're stuck here
Whatever here is
I'm stuck here
This deep dark abyss
