Wherever you are right now,
I just want you to know that
I've never given up on
us.
We'll never be meant for each other,
and that I understand.
I never expected you to love me
back the way I did, but I just want you
to know that I care.
I still do,
and I forever will.
Two years have gone by,
and just as time depletes,
so does my trust in you.
So do the reasons to love you.
But I love you the same.

I want you to know that you are why
I stay up at night until three in the morning,
why I stay alive, and why I never
want to wake up from my dreams.
With God as my witness, I never always liked you, but my love perpetually
remained the same.

I want to let go.
I want to be strong enough
to see myself free from these shackles,
so may this be my way of
surrender.
Let this signify that the gravity pulling me down to my world,
that is you,
no longer exists.

You no longer act as my
world.
No longer are you the
reason for my lack of sleep.
No longer are you my
drug.
No longer are you my
dream.

But I still
love you
the same.
I will always
be here for you,
but not in the way
I would've wanted it.
I miss it,
but that's what love is:
letting go.
So I will let go.
I let go.
I love you.
An open letter for [her].

DaSH the Hopeful
Tonight, I spoke into the darkness,
No stars to light my way,
       The black void all encompassing

My words drifting up in ribbons,
I waited for something, anything to happen

I felt a rumble that was akin to ripples emanating from a drop of water hitting a puddle

I was small next to the impossible,
And when it spoke back, it changed me

The blank canvas of stark black was pierced by blades of light,
The sky becoming a shutter in a rain storm
           Blowing open and closed
The words came and wrapped themselves across my body in its entirety
        Constricting my air flow

             I felt myself shatter
  An implosion of feeble glass
Ricocheting through a skeleton of paper, reflecting the brightness above inside ripped skin

                I was nothing.
                I didn't exist.
I floated in an incomprehensible place that had no end, no walls

     No ceiling or floor

            Just illumination in every direction

                    I opened my eyes

And was blinded by an incredible radiance

I shut my eyes tight and swatted in front of me
My hand struck something metal and I yelped in pain

I shot up and stared downward
Towards the desklamp unplugged on the floor

Breathing heavily, I sat upright in my bed,
*Struggling to pull away words that had already sunken in

Night Shift

Night shifts are quiet
my mind is loud
it screams things at me
from all around the building
like how you left
and how you did it easily
how you walked away
without thinking of me
I swept and mopped
a hundred times
to clear the floor
of the stains left behind
I tried the same with my brain
and ended up jaded
saying your name
I wonder when this will subside
the rush in my veins every time
I see you come inside
just for a coffee
a quick pick-me-up
that's all I was, too,
you filled up your cup,
extra sugar to mask the taste
now I'm just stuck
