I knew you had a princess
you told me day one.

What you didn't say is how wonderful she is
how talented and how nothing I could do measured up to the
beauty she is, creates and masters.

Her womanly elegance far surpasses my freckled childlike wonder
and I look at what I can never be, and I won't change for you.
I did that before and it shattered me.

Love has never been my role, mine is
one of the long game, of guardianship.
A light to lead the way home.

I see now, that she's yours.

Focus on her breathing,
the way he tenses,
afraid to lower walls for anyone.
My thoughts race, but I keep repeating;

I am here now
I am determined to cherish this, to preserve this moment.

I stroke her hair ever so gently,
a hand on his arm as a firm promise.
Now it's just us, and the music.
We breathe together in quiet understanding.

Even if just for a moment,
we are here now.
Slept with my friends on the sofa, just cuddling, for four hours. It was 6am when we decided to finally go to bed. My thoughts tend to wander elsewhere in everything I do but I'm trying a new meditation tactic to pull me back to the present.

This really is a moment I'll cherish.

There's a spot next to you,
and I desperately want to be there.
I'm so tired, I've not been sleeping well.
The fridge hums gently, and the flats around us slowly awaken from drunken stupor - but you? You stay.

As always, I watch to keep away the demons. Even if just for a day, you deserve this rest more than I.
A bunch of us were crashed out on the kitchen floor and eventually everyone left until it was just three of us, including my crush. They took up all the duvet, so I stayed to guard.
Your eyes no longer shine
As bright as they once did
No more do your irises cage a raging flare
Once bursting with beauty

No longer do they conceal the lights the night brings out

I remember how they would endlesssly burn,
When the colours of a dying twilight
Would swirl within your bistre pupils
And lace your glares with its splendour
I remember, while our passion still burned,
Losing myself in the depths of your glare,
In the stars of your stares
In the depths of the night

That fire is gone
But its glow lives on
Somewhere within the dreams I love the most
Brightening my sleep with its bliss
Part Two of a year old poem.
this is the part of the story
where i think of
all the erased words and all
of the things i haven't said
and the fairest thing i can think to do
is to always let you know
where my heart is
