Her mind, plagued with the darkness of thoughts
Pain burrowed in her chest
She cried, and cried, then cried once more
She needed to breathe but she can't
She gasped for more air
Then looked her face in the mirror
How terrible it is to know
That rivers could come from faces
All because of a broken heart.
I can already feel myself healing, growing, getting happier. It doesn't hurt so much when I see you because I know you are still in my life - for now.

Gone are the days when I knew you were mine forever.
But at least you are with me.

For now.

Life kicked me
in the teeth
and gave me
a black eye
I grinned back
with a ****** smile
and winked
my good eye

the sunset was stunning
just like you
the constant clickity clack of the train wheels on the tracks
remind me of the beat of your heart
everywhere i go
has bits and pieces of you
a trail of clues
for me to put together
until the sun has set
the clickity clack of the wheels has silenced
and i step into the night
and am blinded by the most beautiful light
you
Written 09/07/2015 at 8:09 PM sitting on the train headed from Portland to Tacoma.
Recollections of you
rotted flesh flashed
smirked smoke
no mirrors amplify
pyre rise high
a match
ready to strike
trumpets gallantly play
naked through the street
live in guttural
flee the walking man
humbled by
a single flame
ash spread
acrid burn
primed for war paint
blackened walls
waged a slave
plagued inert.
not until
   not so long ago
I recognized
that saying thanks
only with wordless deeds and gestures
may not be enough

we need to
   hear
GRATITUDE
spoken out loudly
   in words

silent appraisal
   is not enough
   over time

so I speak out
in deep appreciation
   of your hard work
   to make us
   stay together
against tall centrifugal forces
the division of
   distance and time
   distress and separation
   barriers of the quotidian
   multiple obligations

I thank you
   for being with me

even at times
   when you are almost
beside yourself

I thank you
   for being with me
and being you
