On a board with wheels, I roll myself around
on the streets of this city
from dusk till dawn.
I observe how people travel in
expensive cars and wear better clothes
yet they look troubled to me
whereas I find happiness
on the side of the road
where I sit all day and beg
for some money.
With the help of my hands
I push the wheels for I don't have
working legs.
But I don't complain
at least I am blessed with the rest.
For a handicapped person I saw today at a traffic signal who was begging for money just to fulfill his needs.
She is the lady on the road.

She is a mother, a sister, a colleague, a bird, a lassie, a damsel.
She is the lady on the road.

She spreads love and enriches kindness in the society,
She is the crux of an organization, and the fundamental principles.
She is the lady on the road.

She twinkles with the stars and shimmers with the moon,
She scampers with her pets and hops like a frog,
She is not a nomad, but a faithful keeper.
She is the lady on the road.

She wears short skirts,
She wears tight tops,
She doesn't encourage the flirts,
She neither abominates the leering of cops.
She is the lady on the road.

She holds a honourable reputation,
She forms the base of ethical standards,
She buries the grudges and resolves the dissension,
She consolidates herself and maintains her fettle,
She is the epitome of cheerful disposition.
She is the lady on the road.

She ignores the catcalls,
She endures the torture and prevails her morale,
She is a monument unshakable, and a stone unbreakable,
She dumps her burdens and enlightens her destiny,
She protects her dignity and negotiates with denunciation,
She does no harm, but deals with it.
She is the lady on the road, ..the seventh wonder of the world.
The women of a country are the colors of your flag.

My heart,
My biggest vulnerability.
But for you,
I’m exposed.
“I’ll be there in a minute.” I shouted as I heard my brother calling me out. The whole village was gathering around the grand fire that was lit near the whispering trees. Every year, on the eve of the ninth full moon, the whole village was gathered around the fire to share stories and sing the old folk songs. I never knew why but it always soothed my soul in a very bizarre way.

I looked at my reflection in the mirror. My eyes traced down my dark brown curls sitting on my shoulders down to the pendant of the snake that I was wearing.

My old nanny had gifted it to me this morning. “This was made when you were born, my little angel.” I brushed the fine bronze carving with my fingers. The details of the snake’s skin felt so real. The snake was curled up as if trying to hide in himself. “What’s the snake for, nanny?” I had asked her, flipping the pendant over. There was something about that little piece of jewelry that I could not take my eyes off it.“Do you know that a snake sheds off its skin as it grows a new one?” she had replied softly. “But they don’t just remove the old skin; they also remove the parasites along.”

Her words echoed in some distant part of my mind. “Snakes shed their skins.”

I stepped out under the open sky. The stars were all lined up as if waiting for my arrival. Everybody stopped chattering, even the great fire burning turned silent.

The old nanny broke the motion and moved towards me. “Come, my child”, she welcomed me with a smile. With that everyone lowered their gaze and bent down on their knees. The local women started singing the old folk song that I heard since I was a kid but only now the words made sense to me.

“It’s finally the time for the snake to shed its skin,
on this night, we all gather to welcome our new princess
to whom we vow to obey and please
who’ll rule the kingdom of the whispering trees.”
By the great river of Indus, I sit all alone
As I try to find the answers in my own reflection.
Can these waves guide me to my destination?
I can't turn back; I am far away from home.
The ripples are forming just by throwing of a stone.
Will I ever find my salvation?
I envy the birds that can fly without any hesitation.
Oh the great river of Indus! I am all alone.

The soft breeze of the water whispers a song
As if it had heard every word that I said
Or is it just an illusion in my head?
I don't know but the river understands me.
The journey of the great Indus is indeed long.
So I'll just sink down silently.
My first attempt at a Petrachan Sonnet.
Mane i dont know how im going to make it
Everysince i walked out that hospital i cant take it
Dear God
Out of all people
I just wonder why my mom has to go through all the stress all the pain
Why did she have to feel so misunderstood most of her life
Because most people did her wrong the more she came back with a right
And all i ask for you mother is fight
I remember you said you ll be here and there when i graduate
Maybe see me ehen i grown
But what if you dont make it
Then its me on my own
Along with my brothers to
And i bet right now those who done you wrong are not only crying over your condition
But its also guilt to
I rather be in your position than see it acted in you
So im hoping you get better
Cause my emotion just dont know what do
How can i ever smile again
When all i can do is cry
Please God give my mother a second chance
I dont wanna see her die
When i think of a women like you
I start to wonder why im single
Its just when i see the good you do
It gives my heart a tingle
Your like a angel that God has sommoned
And im the man dying for your soul
We even have alot in common
So having you is like a long-time goal
Or a risk im willing to take
I ll be lucky and more likely blessed if i achieve
I feel this will be the hardest choice you ll make
But anythings possible if we believe
I've seen angels but not like this
Please angel come take me and heal me with your kiss

You'll never remember
the bad when
you're in the
good

But you'll always
remember the good
when you're in
the bad

Pain is the
greatest necessity
of pleasure
