Touch it: it won't shrink like an eyeball, This egg-shaped bailiwick, clear as a tear. Here's yesterday, last year --- Palm-spear and lily distinct as flora in the vast Windless threadwork of a tapestry. Flick the glass with your fingernail: It will ping like a Chinese chime in the slightest air stir Though nobody in there looks up or bothers to answer. The inhabitants are light as cork, Every one of them permanently busy. At their feet, the sea waves bow in single file. Never trespassing in bad temper: Stalling in midair, Short-reined, pawing like paradeground horses. Overhead, the clouds sit tasseled and fancy As Victorian cushions. This family Of valentine faces might please a collector: They ring true, like good china. Elsewhere the landscape is more frank. The light falls without letup, blindingly. A woman is dragging her shadow in a circle About a bald hospital saucer. It resembles the moon, or a sheet of blank paper And appears to have suffered a sort of private blitzkrieg. She lives quietly With no attachments, like a foetus in a bottle, The obsolete house, the sea, flattened to a picture She has one too many dimensions to enter. Grief and anger, exorcised, Leave her alone now. The future is a grey seagull Tattling in its cat-voice of departure. Age and terror, like nurses, attend her, And a drowned man, complaining of the great cold, Crawls up out of the sea.

A Life
Out of my flesh that hungers and my mouth that knows comes the shape I am seeking for reason. The curve of your waiting body fits my waiting hand your ******* warm as sunlight your lips quick as young birds between your thighs the sweet sharp taste of limes. Thus I hold you frank in my heart's eye in my skin's knowing as my fingers conceive your flesh I feel your stomach moving against me. Before the moon wanes again we shall come together. And I would be the moon spoken over your beckoning flesh breaking against reservations beaching thought my hands at your high tide over and under inside you and the passing of hungers attended, forgotten. Darkly risen the moon speaks my eyes judging your roundness delightful.

My country is an old book with a crumbly, dusty cover; original and valuable Like a book, you don't judge it by its cover. What's inside it is what defines it. Gently open it; Read each word with heart, Uncover its uniqueness till it brings delight. Find the book enjoying, You'll never wish for it to end. You'll read it one more time, You'll show loftiness to it. Oh, fellowmen, we're proud of our country Even if we're not; Our mouths say we are, but our hearts deny. Oh beloved country, We discerned ourselves through judging you because of our own fault. © Frank Lloyd Manalang, 2014

Oh Beloved Country
Heard a beeping sound Followed by A very old Frank Sinatra’s song My classmates’ heads turned Who’s phone? who’s phone? Less chaotic when the teacher glared Everybody put their heads down And checked their sophisticated mobile phones Once again... When the teacher wasn’t looking.. Mobile phones roamed in a dull classroom Updating facebook status, Uploading candid photos of a snoring friend Copy pasting assignment Text messaging and gossiping about their stern looking teacher In the name of advanced technology Mobile smartphones create the impossibles... Beyond the blackboard and the four walls of the classroom O o Frank Sinatra’s song again... And everybody started looking... The teacher grabbed her mobile phone Tried to switch it off.... When students could own smartphones.. Who needs NOKIA from the old time zone....? ~ Sharina~

My teacher’s cell phone
I am not required to love you. Let's get that straight. Neither man nor woman Is obligated to profess And show their undying love for you, Just as the sun doesn't revolve around the world, The world doesn't revolve around you. A series of acts showing your "kindness" Is not a contract for a relationship. The very fact that you have to shout How you are a "nice guy" Shows how you aren't; Kindness doesn't need reassurance. To be frank, This whole delusion Is getting a bit out of hand (see: the ****** Killer", a guy so sexually frustated He killed people for not giving him the right to get laid). Maybe, hear me out here guys, it's not because girls only look for "bad guys". Maybe we look for soulmates, Not Good Samaritans with hidden agendas. This may come off as a shock for some of you, But all-around goodness isn't equal to treating girls nicely Only because you might have a chance. So if your mating dance Consists of acting like you're an angel And simultaneously complaining About the blindness And insolence of women, It's high time you should stop. Put down the fedora while you're at it. It's become a symbol for gentlemen for you, But now it's a warning sign for us: "Beware the self-entitling guy!" Honestly, we cringe every single time. And darling, Nice guys always finish last because they whine Instead of running.

Re: The Friendzone and Nice Guys
You don't see me but I am There, I have numerous ways To take you, Hold you, Control you, You'll not even know I was there, I am a conqueror of flesh. Feeling... Sickly, siphoned, strained Both body and my brain Doctor said it's just a cold Nothing but a passing pain Is this hypochondria, Or is there something in my veins? Your insides are my playground To cause you much anguish & pain I'll infect you slowly at first, Have a little fun within your Organs Muscles Thoughts I aim to control, invisible To the eye, but you know I'm in here, your losing control. Today I coughed up blood Cold sweats come in floods I'm drowning in my own bed As I clutch my feverish head There's an inferno in my skull I'm taking Vicodin to null Whatever it is eating at me I know I'll be better in a week. You apes think size is intelligence, This was your undoing from the start, I replicate myself, as its my time to move on, I leave apart of myself here As its time too Infect Multiple Spread My gift to those around, You sneezed You coughed Upon your sweat, I am Now on everything you touch, Time to end the play, "Business calls" Be Proud of your self Patient Zero, dear human You were my first, But its time for me to move on...

Intelligent Killer (Collaboration with The Excellent Frank Ruland)
It’s weird how one vaguely remembers important days, Like a friend’s birthday. But I’ll remember one day, And no, it wasn’t my friend’s birthday, But actually, it was mother’s day. I’ll always remember it, Because you said you were cooking for your mom And I remember thinking: “What a gentleman!” I’ll remember it because you were at church that day, And I laughed because the idea of you being at church, Made me believe for a while that you were actually a “Good boy”- a gentleman. Most of all though, I’ll remember that day, Because you practically asked me If I liked you. I remember saying to myself: “He’s a genius!” Because you twisted it up, But to be frank, I would have done the same thing too. Instead of saying : “Do you like me ?” – (like a normal being); You asked : “Is there a boy that you currently like?” I also remember thinking , “How awkward” Because my feelings for you were as clear as the sea, But here you are asking, if I liked you. I’ll remember that day, because I imagined how misty the smoke would look as it forced its way out of your lungs, After a deep inhalation of the one you called: “Marie” I’ll remember creating scenes in the desert of my mind Of how it would feel to meet you for the first time – if you’d hug me and smile, Like a gentle man. I’ll remember that day because I kept wondering: “What if our first encounter was bad? “ “What if he doesn’t like what he sees?” – I remember laughing because thought it was funny. I’ll remember thinking that I should stop building feelings for you so fast. I’ll remember it because I made my imaginations get the better of me – I imagined us in the place where my only use for that place is to sleep. I’ll remember that day because trying to get you off my mind failed once more- Because when I fell asleep you were at the forefront of my mind And when I woke up, You still were.

In the rain in the rain in the rain in the rain in Spain. Does it rain in Spain? Oh yes my dear on the contrary and there are no bull fights. The dancers dance in long white pants It isn't right to yence your aunts Come Uncle, let's go home. Home is where the heart is, home is where the **** is. Come let us **** in the home. There is no art in a **** Still a **** may not be artless. Let us **** an artless **** in the home. Democracy. Democracy. Bill says democracy must go. Go democracy. Go Go Go Bill's father would never knowingly sit down at table with a Democrat. Now Bill says democracy must go. Go on democracy. Democracy is the **** Relativity is the **** Dictators are the **** Menken is the **** Waldo Frank is the **** The Broom is the **** Dada is the **** Dempsey is the **** This is not a complete list. They say Ezra is the **** But Ezra is nice. Come let us build a monument to Ezra. Good a very nice monument. You did that nicely Can you do another? Let me try and do one. Let us all try and do one. Let the little girl over there on the corner try and do one. Come on little girl. Do one for Ezra. Good. You have all been successful children. Now let us clean the mess up. The Dial does a monument to Proust. We have done a monument to Ezra. A monument is a monument. After all it is the spirit of the thing that counts.

The Soul Of Spain
1339 A Bee his burnished Carriage Drove boldly to a Rose— Combinedly alighting— Himself—his Carriage was— The Rose received his visit With frank tranquillity Withholding not a Crescent To his Cupidity— Their Moment consummated— Remained for him—to flee— Remained for her—of rapture But the humility.

That seashell you gave me that looked like a turtle I threw away That Marine hoodie that was "too small for you" My best friend hid it away. The entire two letters you wrote me live at the bottom of my "junk" drawer. I deleted you off my facebook hoping it might help. I don't bring you up and walk away from others if your name is in the conversation. I fall off the wagon sometimes and look at your photo. But have improved I rarely notice if your name is in any of my novels. I laugh out loud that your name is Frank. Blunt, Straightforward, Honest. If only you could live up to your name. I cried oceans when you went away. Appropriate considering you're now an ocean away. I didn't leave my apartment for days. I've been sleeping on my couch my bed is stained. It was a crush It never should have been more. But after four years I only loved you more. Once in awhile now this depression sinks in. And I can hide your things, throw them away, I can delete you off my page, I can avoid your name. But these memories will always stay.

Turtle seashell.
I sit watching brown eyes probe affectionately through the haze at the mirrors created by close family. I think the intimacy that is made possible by the sharing of wine, **** and space in a dim room full of sad love and smoke will never ceased to amaze me. The men see themselves in each other and are both heartened in their own ways I am drunk now in my way and The Mirror is ****** in his and Brown (Green) Eyes is both at once Appalachian mouths move in turns to take a hit or a drink or a shot at wisdom Suddenly the truth of our three souls is laid bare on the tiny table there between us. My heart tightens around the words as they echo through each chamber growing louder with each reverberation. “Happiness is being able to breathe” Love you, Frank.

"You know, I used to be good at math," He says, A cigarette cradled in his fingers, Spilling ash on his blue jeans. He rearranges himself, removes his jacket - It's much too hot for leather now - And reveals a Dean t-shirt. Too cool for school, I suppose. "The rules just got too crazy, too specific. Too dependent and tangled. Well, too much so for the effort I was willing to exert." He's frank, I'll give him that. How does he make utter sloth seem so innocent? Too cool for school, I suppose. He calls himself a Methodist. Not like that, though. He says he's just figured life out. He means the hows, not the whys. The stops along the tour of personal success. A Methodist. Too cool for school, I suppose.

trees are changing their robes; on misty mornings I am sitting on my porch. a book   I've found in a vintage bookstore at the corner of my street is lying in my lap drinking a tea wrapped into my favorite blanket and watching my neighbors carving their pumpkins smelling the scent of firewood while also listening to Frank Sinatra autumn, oh autumn where have you been?

You drive me crazy. Absolutely nuts. It's rather scary, to be quite frank. I'm not entirely sure I like it at all. But you see, there is no other person upon the earth that I would rather go crazy with but you.

Crazy.
I sat in history class Must have been My senior Or junior year On the screen Came horrible things Emaciated Decimated Human beings Numbers tattooed Bodies burnt Gas chambers Stories so cruel Years after we read Anne Frank’s diary But no one really had a clue The pictures Were part of a documentary Made to remind us Of human insanity Skin and bones Broken men Barely left standing Human suffering I couldn’t help but cry But behind me no one else did And then I couldn’t help but wonder why No one else felt the same sadness in it

Green Flamingo (Nonsense Poem)
Looks like you need a drink... What'll it be, let me think... One thing you should know, Little Miss, I'm not a bartender... I'm just winging this... Hmm... Arc in a cocktail shaker Filled halfway up Throw Melz in the mix Just a dollop Let's see now... Spoonful of rhymes Make that a table Few drops of Conor If he's up and able Almost ready... A touch of Tea Maybe a tad more A dose of Frank In a little pour Just about done... Cap it up Shake that shaker Pour it out Top with Silver Ahh... In a cocktail glass Now sprinkle with Dani Let's not stinge Sprinkle aplenty There you go, Hon... Take a full swig When you see the bottom, your pain wouldn't seem so big...

We are polar opposites You are West, I am East Our views always contradict You have a sweet tooth, I don't like sweets You are white, I am black Not literally, but just in life view Sometimes you're ***** white and I'm clear black It varies from half empty to half full You are an extravert While I am an introvert You like being surrounded by people I'm fine being secluded in the darkest corner You're frank and always true I lie so no one will have a clue But you always know what I hide While I am oblivious if you're really fine You are a cat-lover, I am a dog-lover It rain cats and dogs when we're together You sing the sweetest meow at my whimper I happily wag my tail at your purr We both like music though But we listen to different genres We never even shared on one earphone So sometimes we just endure the silence You are a sadist, I am a ********* You leave bite marks on my skin Whenever you're overwhelmed But I'm really fine with it You like Vampire Diaries and Victoria's Secret While I like TVXQ and anime We'll never agree on a TV show Now who's gonna hold the remote control? You are a clean freak I am not that very clean You're probably next to Godliness While I'm second to the last in that list You are very hardworking, I am lazy While you are being busy I'm being a potato on the couch "Sweep the floor.", you said as the broom flew on my face, "Ouch!" I like food trips But you are on a diet You like to eat healthy I like to eat anything but veggies True, we don't have anything in common Except for the dislike of the black part of the fish's meat But we are familiar of our demons And the how-tos for its defeat Yes, we must be polar opposites And yes, we're like magnets Positive plus negative To each other, we are attracted I am salt, you are pepper And we complement each other We are each others' puzzle pieces Completing each others' emptiness We are yin and yang We cannot live without either one And most importantly, you and I We rhyme
