If there can be crocodile tears,
There exists crocodile smiles
I see them everywhere
I feel them playing on my lips
Everytime I pose for a picture that I don't want to pose for,
I don't want to smile, cannot smile
Because there is nothing to smile for
But we have to smile for a picture right?
All over the world wide Web I see the plastic smiles adorned over pretty the faces
Only the eyes giving out the truth with a dull sheen,
The dead sadness and the extinct happiness
Reflected by that flash in your camera which is there to light up your face
Those smiles that make the world jealous and mean nothing to themselves
Can you just for once zoom in and look into the stillness of my eyes
See the longing and the emptiness,
Devoid of any form of happiness,
Of anything which can genuinely induce a smile in a normal human being
Those eyes of mine are just waiting and waiting for this one missing part in my life,
That hand I would hold with care,
Those lips which would kiss away my invisible tears
Those eyes which would take me to dreamland with one look
That voice which would tingle my insides into bursting fireworks
That person who would stretch the corners of my mouth as far as the west and east of earth
Without any effort that even I wouldn't realise
When I smile
Genuinly
For the first time in years.

An hour before midnight
On the night of 1930
Fire blazed in hearts to fight
For their Independence
And to attain their rights.

Yes, it was the night of 1930
And in the cold winds of 26th Jan
They declared to fight for our freedom
And they had a simple plan.

They promised to give Swaraj
To all of their natives
Something that was just a mirage
Until it really happened.

Yes, India got freedom
On 15th August, 1947
That was when they decided
To transform India into heaven.

They completed our Constitution
On 26th November 1949
And they had their contribution
In their hands but that date wasn't fine
To enact the book of laws.

To pay respect
To our fighters
The law was finally enacted
And was papered a bit nifty
On January 26th 1950.

(The End)

[Note: Happy Republic Day!!!]
So this was the short story of how the Indian Constitution was enacted. I used this particular word "Swaraj" because that was used by the freedom fighters and it means "Self rule".  I tried my best to make this, so I hope people like it. :)

Every year on 26th January I turn on my TV at 8
To watch our soldiers marching, planes gliding and tanks rolling through India Gate
Watching these soldiers march in their handsome uniforms makes me extremely proud
And on this day we also mourn the losses of people who, for the Nation, wore the shroud
This day, unlike others, isn’t just a holiday for me
It symbolises the day when, from British rule, we finally broke free
The sacrifice and struggle that Indians went through then were huge
In their own country, they couldn’t be a refuge
Jawaharlal Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi, Subhash Chandra Bose were a few who fought for our country and shot to fame
But what about the thousand others who sacrificed their entire lives, but we still don’t know their name!
Do you know why 26th January 1950 was the chosen date?
Because exactly 20 years on the same date the INC proclaimed the Declaration of Independence after winning the debate!
This day celebrates the coming into force of India’s constitution
This is the world’s largest document and respects every institution
But after all these years is India still an independent republic
Or is it a monarch hiding in the skins of general public?

Most of the poems I've written
Are experiences I never had
Some are things that I want to happen
Others are things that happened when I was sad

But lately I've been thinking
That you fit my poems very well
Each and every word of my writing
Reminds me of a story that older folks tell

That when I find the one
The one who will own my heart
They'll make me feel whole and one
Not tear my own little heart apart

But what the others never told
Was that the stories aren't easy
That maybe we will only see each other when we're old
Or that we'll be far apart, on the opposite ends of the sea

But you and I know what this is
We both know what's at stake
We'll both endure till the end of this
Because we both know none of this is fake

People might say we're only children
Or that it might not even be what we thought it'd be
But I know that you'll turn the other cheek, that you'll never listen
Because I know that what I feel for you is just as strong as your feelings for me

It's sad to know you he made me think he'll stay with me
Specially now that I see him happy without me, for whatever reason it may be

I wonder if your eyes still know me
I wonder if they'd recognize my face
I wonder if they'd water if they saw me
I wonder if I've even left a trace
I wonder if I'm in your veins
I wonder if you've gone insane
I wonder if you can still feel me
I wonder if you even miss me
I wonder if you wonder about me
I wonder if you wonder how I feel
I wonder if you even give a ****
I wonder if our love is even real

It's just the same as it's always been

We both roll our eyes and laugh and sigh

Each stuck in our own thoughts

In our own lives, which just happened to intersect

Was it by chance? Oh but you know I don't believe in that

Your laugh could only be brought to my ears by fate

I wonder if we'll still talk like this years from now

Silently, I think about my life before you and how I never knew what I was missing until I found it

Please don't let this fade away with all the things that have

You're the only one who truly understands the days my heart cries and the days I can't help but burst into song

Precious person, you don't know how dear you are to me

This is what true friendship means, through the good and bad

Whether happy or sad

Even if we get mad sometimes, I will never say goodbye to the one who's been there for me through the worst of myself

How did I ever live without you? No wonder I have been miserable

So much was missing from my life

I have built
great stone walls
around me

And each time I consider
Bringing someone in
I picture
Watching them leave

So then I slam
the door shut
And throw away its key
With love, kelsey
