The abandoned railway line
leads to lush green
and clematis tangles
To a stream
that broke through
the crumbling stone wall
Owls nest there and children explore
What man abandons
and time devours
Earth brings back to life
her eternal children
The child wished
that she could touch
the sun shining in the sky,
like a bright new penny.

It glowed through her fingers
like the golden treasure
her mother longed for
when she could not pay the bills.

She looked down to see
the sun reflected in a puddle
Bending down, she grasped at it
but it dissolved into grey.
Her mother’s life,
all over again.

O Holly and Ivy
they are both in full moan
No Christmas tree for them because
the delivery man let them down

O the disappointment  of the sales
of hangovers undeserved
Don’t leave your curtains open
for the next door neighbour perves

Our neighbour is called Blossom
so white with nausea
She polished off the Prosecco
then threw up on our rug

O the horror of our relatives
and the misery of mince pies
Not so bad when you’re eating them,
but they end up on one’s thighs

Inside the flower
the nectar is sweet
The bee is enchanted
her reverie deep

She lights on the roses
and hums her delight
The bee is so busy
She’s beautiful bright

When you taste your honey
Remember the bee
Remember the flowers
ecstatic and free
Bee is a meadow Queen
From her dark hive
she rules her workers
who bring her pollen and nectar

A bear comes bumbling along
and takes the kingdom
for an hour or two
he’s the blissful King of Honey
Ice on the lake
Birds subdued
feather quilt their wings
Quizzical calls
of Canada goose

Open my door
to see snowscape morning
Splashes of natures
impressionist artistry
holly berries, evergreens
a joyful black dog

If time heals
why do the hours drag?
Child with dandelion clock
lives in zen,
at one with herself
and her world.

I feel bound to it
as a mechanical thing.
No longer flowing with seasons,
like a wild May Queen.

I hear the mechanical
tick tock tick
tock tick tock
of the clock in my kitchen.

Time reduced to numbers.
Time cut into pieces.
Someday I’ll smash
that ****** clock.

I love to boogie
ride a white swan at beltane
tripping datura

da da da da da
deborah the zeb-a-rah
in disco silver
It’s only bounded by ephemeral horizons
infinite sky
like a vispassana  mind
watching the clouds drift by
in the soft starlight
an emerald planet born
in deep oceans  life

three  billion years
before humanity came
like a locust swarm

you came  messiah
with snow and black ice for all
it was party time

the party’s over
ended in these shadowed streets
you abandoned us

you will come again
bearing your three precious gifts
we will rise again
I resolved this year
make  new year’s resolutions
oh dear broke that one
There is nothing more irritating
than an thwarted sneeze.

like love in winter
brief flash of lightning

and fall to silence

it’s endless violence
To own that
which can never be owned
by a breath of impermanence

I’ve seen diamond skies
where you saw the falling rain
lost in chasing gold

lucy how you lied
blasting open the third eye
wild serpent rising

in lost dimensions
eaten by ouroboros
never returning

joyful bird of hope
symbolising renewal
christmas in his song
Just for now
she works in a shabby cafe
Just for now she moonlights
as a dancer in a city bar
Just for now she cleans up after him
Just for now
White is all colours
while black absorbs all
Just as Kali Ma
devours sorrow and pain

The dawn is blushing
as the sun gazes at her
from her misty horizon
She whirls a few lace clouds
around herself

He brings her gold
with which to adorn her hair
She melts into the sky
lost to sight until tommorow
leaf drifts on spring breeze
I take a wandering path
following her dance

When rain falls
I think of you
When sun shines
I miss you
When snow falls
I know
that I must let you go
liquid gold spilled sunlight
over fresh fallen snow
sets the world aglow
turns your hair to flame
living forest breathes
it’s the life of our planet
the mother of all

loneliness sorrow
words like grey clouds in the sky
storms of emotions

then I see your face
lit by the sun and shining
I the moon reflect

then clouds drift away
as your warmth floods into sky
there’s just you and I

Like a drop of milk
on a black cats whisker
the moon is lost
in the endless night
She follows paths
invisible
and longs to
see the light
But the moon is a lady
whose destiny is dark
She’ll never see the sunlight
or hear the merry lark
Sometime she is silver
Sometimes she is gold
She is a jewel invisible
above the lonely world

The Void of Creation
conceived from a dream
gave birth to infinity
which birthed the child eternity
from which evolved time

Time conceived death
and death gave birth to wisdom
which  gave birth to love

Merging together
they became the lost words
of forever
breathed softly from sleeping children
to a silent world

Love was lost
like a diamond ring
left on the beach
love discarded
like a half- eaten
rotten peach
I wish you were awake
and not asleep
My wishes are like ships
lost in the deep

My love you’re gone forever
I see you where you’re not
I sense you in the shadows
In each familiar spot
Your scent imbues my pillow
with the memory of one night
when all the world stood still
You were my love,my light
Now you are a memory
A half forgotten truth
That love is ever living
and my love is the proof

one more candle in the wind
blown out far too soon
We made a tiny snowman
When the snow began to melt
tears welled up in her eyes.
“The snowman will die Mummy”
she sniffed.

Later that day I went
to the deep freezer.
There, smiling up at me,
was the tiny snowman

When you were gone
we planted a young tree
in memory
and twenty years later
from that day
I wonder
how you have grown
Are you a gentle birch
sighing in the breeze
or an apple bearing maiden
or a larch with golden leaves
Maybe you are a willow
with trailing veils and skirts
a fragrant pine
or a somber elm or an ash
with spinning keys
I will return
I’ll come alone
and sit within your shade
A tree it is eternal
A poem
not a grave

Moon shining brightly
Moon light my way
I am between shadows
The horizon is grey

Then as I grow weary
a rose blooms in the sky
The birds sound so joyful
I no longer ask— why?

The world felt so empty
and charity cold
But this day brings me hope
I no longer feel old

The moon longed to join his lover the Earth,
who did not feel the depth of his love.
For she was entranced by the song of the thrush,
by the rippling stream and the sighing wind.

The sun eclipsed him and he wept in darkness.
Even over night he could not reign.
Ever since that time the moon fades
from full to a sliver of invisibility.
Waxing to bright hopefulness once again.

Moon silvers the path
that leads you home.
Sun gilds your hair
and shines from your eyes
The moon is shadowed today
She his hidden by the King
Her crown fallen to Earth
like an asteroid
melted down and forged to swords
and still they’re fighting

Take one child
add a Vietnamese dazed dad
with a dash of religious schooling
where teachers say
“ listen to this music
then avoid anything like it”
Of course he listened
( of course you would
as anyone of spirit should)

Turn heaven upside down
in a bewildering world
Out of the chaos came
the Anti- Christ superstar
So people named him
He embraced and reflected
their delusions

Authors of their own terror
they did not comprehend
that legends are born
from the mouths of dragons
Not the tears of angels.
Out of the blue
you wrote songs
that brought us out of the black
Reminding us of childhood
singing of lost souls
with a voice
like softly falling rain
