  Sep 2018 The Non-Poet
Trey Remulla
i used to send you memes,
it's no longer a habit of my day.
i realized i haven't sent any in a while,
i miss our old ways.

The first time she looked up
She fell in love with the sky
Her heart reaching higher
The only answer was to fly

So she made wings of her heart
Carved dreams into feathers
Bid farewell to earth
And fluttered towards ether

But gravity loved her too
Had no intention to let go
Pulled her firmly to the ground
And broke her wings in woe
Go ahead
hold me a little longer
than usual.
You say to me,
without using any
words at all,
"it should have been me,
its still me."
Like i don't already see
those sky blue eyes
every time i close my own.
Because we're still holding
on to god knows what.
Because it is you
and it will always be you.

You used to eat all the blue M&Ms in the package last.
Now I eat all the blue ones first to convince myself I’m over you,
Yet every time I do
I only think of you.

I'm tired of being awake
I'm bored with all the entertainment
I'm exhausted with all of this
I just need some sleep is all

just imagine

early morning light
tickling in softly
through the windows

warmth slowly
spreading through
the room

sleep-filled thoughts
and notions
all disappear

once you see their
gentle eyes looking
down into yours

you feel this
small ache in the
pit of your stomach

it slowly spreads up
until it's a lump
in your throat

you think
you're star-struck

but rather
you find you simply
cannot breathe

they cup your cheek
brows furrowed
and they ask you
"darling, what's wrong?"

you open your mouth
you try to speak the words

but rather than
ruin the moment

rather than
ruin their happiness

you close your mouth

painfully swallow
down the lump

and offer up a small smile

and hope they do not see
the faint tears in your eyes
