When a person dies
A lot of relationships fall into pieces
Truth???
JUST AN  OLD DRAFT
~Aliza Jennifer~
Our worlds is crying
Sons and daughters are dying
One by one
Sad thing is they're dying all so young
Mothers are wiping
Genocides are still happening
Want my world to just finally sing
Dark times are coming
People are running
Families leaving everything behind
Rights are taken away
People are getting shot everyday
Dying without doing any crime
Teenagers cut lines, committee suicide
Police take innocent lives
Cause no one has a heart
They take away their children
And leave their mothers scare
They just want to love them, but they keep them apart
So my whole world is letting out crys
It brings me to pain
Are we still going to lose our loved one again,
Or are we gonna fight
They say all men are created equal
It's not only one race
It's everyone lives
JASMINE Jul 2020
I was born different
Different in a sense,
Not acceptable to society
Inadmissible to my parents,
Above all I am a human being!

You treated me like a dog
Left me in a trash can,
Hurt my soul
Physically abused me,
You cursed my existence

They call me from bad names
Say I was designed to be,
A *** worker ; An entertainer
You tear apart my clothes,
Body shamed me!

I'm not an object
Stop bullying me,
Yes, I'm trans! I ain't like you
But I can sure you;
I'm a better person than you!

One day I had sworn to serve the people of my nation.
To protect them from harm,
Keep the city safe from harm,
Wore my uniform in pride,
And the people of my town looked up to me with trust and honor.

Now I do the devils work
Disguised in the same uniform
And I hurt my people.
I hurt the young and the old and everyoneย who thought I would keep them safe.
I don't know when it began or maybe I do
I've lost conscience about my wrong doings.
You do not know who I am anymore
I do not know who I am anymore.
I'm deeply saddened by the brutality shown by police officers. Too bad and too sad.

My friend calls me and tells me that this time around we need to re apply for our jobs after quarantine.
I tell her *******.
You see, I am not joking. I mean it.
I got tired of people treating me the way the want.
Now I will get treated the way I want.

My work place sends me an addendum.
They want to cut salaries despite the fact that we've been working full time despite the pandemic.
I hear it is up to 50%
You see I am a teacher.
When a pandemic happens I still follow my timetable.
I show up and teach, and call or email those that aren't showing up.
And tell them to show up.....
So I say *******.
I cannot sign something I do not agree with.

This guy I used to date started texting me.
He says he hasn't been with anyone because of the pandemic.
He says I am his best option 'right now'
I say *******.
I turn off my data and go to bed.
You see I am no longer available for your entertainment.
I once 'dated' this American white male who told me I wasn't supposed to have an opinion....
I text people I like now..... that really really like me back

When my boss calls me.
She doesn't say hello or check if I am well.
She goes straight off to yelling and screaming.
I say *******.
I turn off my phone and move on with my life.
Because despite falling apart and feeling so lost most days in this pandemic.
I did show up and do my job
So when she learns to communicate, I will talk to her.

I applied for a job, no jobs where they told me..
the problem is my nationality.
Not my papers, experience or inability to perform...
In fact before I told them where I am from, they told I could make a good addition to the team.
Until I turned out African.
So I say ******* when your online course says it will open global opportunities for me.

Because the world is 'woke' now.
African Americans can chant 'Black lives matter'
Their voices are heard and the world chants with them in solidarity.
So this is me whispering
That my Black life matters too....
My voice, my thoughts and opinions matter too....
And hoping the world will hear me too one day
And stand with me in solidarity.....

I'm not angry, I am just fighting for my rights.

It all just started with different race of black
All the bad ideas were just stacked in a sack

They strived for their rights until they got the light
They tried to have the freedom without even having to fight

But then the other people started treated them roughly
They had to come on streets and fight for them toughly

After all the fights and struggles they got to live the life they wished
Now that all has happened the older days are missed
A poem for the good days to come and racism to end

Oh sweet boy, Angel of God
on earth you have completed your task.
To other worldโ€™s you now must fly to,
we are keeping your feathers
as you begin your ascension .

Oh sweet child of God
Such clear vision at your tender age,
to serve and protect was your end game,
but now we are leftโ€ฆwith a confused and hazed
apology to a shroud of teddy bears and lit candles.
The spilled wax is a reminder, that
deep inside we are all cowards
and we forgot that you were the prey
and needed protection.
The burning wick is not for you โ€“
itโ€™s to remind us of your light
and that humans by nature are dangerously darkโ€ฆ

I am sorry Junior, for we have failed you.
I am sorry that it was fear that came to your rescue,
Iโ€™m sorry your eyes witnessed the malice of creation,
Iโ€™m sorry people recorded instead of calling the operator,
I am sorry your cry for help did not connectโ€ฆ
You know mijoโ€ฆthe line was ringing-but the world is deaf.

!Oh, sweet child of God!,
Some called you Junior in life,
You were an angel with wings so wide
that in these concrete streets, you could not fly.
The Bathgate would be your access to heaven
youโ€™ve left us your wings in a city corner,
so that we can remember to look up above
and find surrender and forgiveness in clashing clouds.

I donโ€™t know what to say,
your departure causes so much grief and pain,
yet, you did not die in vainโ€ฆI think you are still
working with humanity from far away;
You woke up a community that had been sleeping,
you woke us up from the anesthesia, the numbness
Is no longer acceptable, our youth need a BEACON.

A new door we must create so
that our youthโ€™s future is not slain
in the mumble jumble of irresponsible adults.
Makes space for youth in the world,
So that every Junior in our lives,
can live without fear in their backyard.

Oh sweet child of God,
We are not there yet but with you..,weโ€™ll RISE again.
Thank you for every day you arose,
for loving your mother so much,
for inspiring a movement of love,
for showing us courage and hope,
your sweet little face will live in our hearts.

Oh sweet child of God,
your name we will not forget
I think you set the stage,
we must act and rise again.

21st century slavery: Shayn Powell

Take a look around,
Itโ€™s 2018.
What do you see?
Everything looks fine,
People striding in glee?

Look hard for it may
Be a mystery,
That weโ€™re living through
21st century slavery.

We claim these are
The lands of the free.
Itโ€™s a fib, thatโ€™s not at
All what it seems.

Because if it were
the land of the free
than Martin Luther King may
never have had his dream.

There wouldnโ€™t have
Been a march for
Freedom in 1963.
And Mr King wouldnโ€™t
Have lost his life
For standing up in
What everyone
Should've believed.

Take a look around,
Itโ€™s 2018.
What do you see?
Everything looks fine,
People striding in glee?

Look hard for it may
Be a mystery,
That were living through
21st century slavery.

America, โ€œland of the freeโ€
Were fine we claim,
living in prosperity.
โ€œEveryoneโ€™s equalโ€,
Youโ€™ve heard it too, How silly
Donโ€™t you agree?

My best friend
Rolled his window up
when he saw a policeman.
Itโ€™s sad, But this is the
reality we live in.

โ€œWeโ€™re equalโ€ but we
Strip kids from their dreams
Because they were brought here
Against their will illegally.

Have some leniency,
Then again youโ€™re
changing their scenery.ย ย
How can you do that
So easily?

And whatโ€™s this ****
we learned in history?
Jim Crow laws?
Thank god those are gone.
Or so we thought

Youโ€™re not sneaky America,
Mass incarceration is
Nothing but a plot
For a group of minorities
To be 2nd class citizens
To us all.

Thatโ€™s evil that should leave
everyone appalled.

Itโ€™s time for a call
For action.
All this arrogance
Has left us distracted
From what our nation
claims to practice.
Because

Take a look around,
Itโ€™s 2018.
What do you see?
Everythingโ€™s NOT fine,
People AREN'T striding in glee.

Really look for itโ€™s
Not hard to see
That were living through
21st century slavery.

Yours truly,

That worried white kid
Who lives in a society
Thatโ€™s unruly.
Witnessed a buddy of mine roll his window up at a stoplight when he saw a police officer at the same stoplight and I wrote this up shortly after.
