A vision plays out in the mind,
Creating a perfect design for an outcome.

Ideas blossom to construct a purpose,
Hoping nothing won’t block the strategy.

Somehow, obstacles stop the movement of progress,
Ruining a project which was well devised.

When situations don’t go as planned,
We feel like reason is destroyed.

Try to preserve the infrastructure,
And work on rebuilding the architecture.

If the fort can’t be maintained,
Form a secondary scenario as an option.

It’s unfortunate when a framework is damaged,
But there is always new an alternative to an aim.

Forgiveness
Michael LoMonaco Aug 2016
The sword of fury stabs us in the back,
Sparking the fire by resentment.

Flames ignite into a huge grudge,
With hatred burning in our eyes.

If a person repents their past sins,
Eradicate the arson of fueled anger.

Life is too short to scorch in rage,
A blaze that depletes the quality of life.

Driven by Cause, not Money
Michael LoMonaco Jun 2017
My eyes don’t glow by gold,
They glitter through purpose.

Money won’t drive self-ambition,
Reason motivates my engine.

Desires to succeed ignites a mission,
Starting a campaign to win success.

By staying honorable to the quest,
Coins can’t purchase my loyalty.

Cause will always be my intent in life,
Not artificial happiness that’s printed.

At My Worst When Vulnerable
Michael LoMonaco Nov 2017
Doubting my true potential to shine,
Lacking the confidence to survive.

A soft blow will knock me over,
Collapsing as I am unstable.

Hiding to avoid showing weakness,
Scared to expose any signs of fear.

Attempting to display strength,
But fragility is easily noticeable.

Fighting to earn back optimism,
Trying to see bright colors.

Defeating the darkness requires courage,
A force that’s within myself and others.

Admitting that help is needed,
A trait that is hard to possess when frail.

Once I can reach out for assistance,
Recovery from vulnerability is possible.

Learning From History
Michael LoMonaco Nov 2018
The tradition of bad repetition is a cycle,
As harmful actions repeat the same plot.

Morals by history are not mastered,
When the tale is reliving like a rerun.

With the recognition of past mistakes,
Freewill can change the course.

Once the power to choose is recognized,
Determination will build a positive pattern.

The struggle isn’t a walk in the park,
But winning the war doesn’t require a miracle.

Saying this operation requires tough skills,
Describing talents you don’t possess.

Referring it as a suicide mission,
Stating that you will never recover.

That the quest will lead to self-grief,
Causing continuous days of misery.

You were called up for deployment,
Whether the critics like it or not.

It is a duty to take on your assignment,
Fighting for the right to success.

Because if you don’t battle in the conflict,
You will be eaten by regret your entire life.

Focusing on What We Own
Michael LoMonaco Jul 2018
The human tendency craves a desire,
Hungry for that item we don’t possess.

Upset that we don’t own that luxurious product,
Bothered by the fact that we don’t own more.

Instead of focusing on the missing,
Cherish the valuables that currently bring joy.

We can dwell on what is absent,
But let’s be grateful for what is terrific.

No Goodbyes
Michael LoMonaco Nov 2016
It was that wicked drug,
Not some contagious bug,
That caused a goodbye without a hug.

We certainly cried when you died,
And our tears eventually just dried,
Because your potential to shine was denied.

Even though you are dead,
A fact that we all dread,
After knowing what life you have led,
And every battle that caused bloodshed,
We are confident for what is ahead.
This poem is dedicated to my brother, who died at age 33 from an overdose on painkillers. I love you with all my heart and soul!

Michael LoMonaco Jul 2018

Viewing it as voluntary disease,

Especially when born into disadvantageous ways.

Complications produce many roadblocks,
As challenges obstruct the path to success,

But that person usually doesn’t show up.

In order to get through the entryway,
