You never listened much to what she had to say
Don't act surprised now that it's over
Why do we always see the truth when it's much too late
Did you ever really know her

You should have listened to her heart
That if nothing else
Then you would have known
Exactly how she felt

You spent all that time looking into her eyes
And yet can't recall the color
Now you wonder what was on your mind
When you were together

You should have listened to her heart
As the heart will speak the truth
Then you would have known
Exactly what to do

You've been given lessons but have yet to learn
Back to the same old you come morning
Spent all the brownie points you have ever earned
As you were deaf and dumb to any warning

You should have listened to her heart
Perhaps you would not have been set loose
Then you would have known
Exactly what she needed from you

your absence is
like the aftermath
of the storm

i'm left to wonder
whether i prefer
the desperate
insanity you blew
into my life

or the deadly
silence.
At least I know where I stand in a storm.

Far to beautiful to ever hide
Reflected in these tear filled eyes
Who am I to ever deny
The love I have for Alice

You lay still the day you were born
With the angel wings you adorned
In heaven they rejoice yet here I morn
Over the love I have for Alice

Inside of this mothers heart
Is where the memories of you are
With every beat it leaves a mark
Of the love I have for Alice

Eternal flame the sweetest fire
Burning true this hearts desire
Nothing for me is any higher, than
The love I have for Alice
Lilly read a poem I had posted "whispering alice" and said how touched she was by it as she was 8 months pregnant about 4 1/2 years ago and lost her baby Alice who was still born. I was so moved that I wrote her this poem...

What was then
Is still now
Holding tight
The love we found
All it is
That we're allowed
That is what
Our love's about

Though we've had
Our ups and downs
We've not let
In any doubt
It's not hard
To figure out
That is what
Our love's about

We do not follow
Any crowd
Our love for us
Is our own sound
The very best
Sound we have found
That is what
Our love's about

Who are we to say
that a love is not to be?
That a love does not belong
and can never be set free?

Who are we to think
that a kind is not our people?
That a kind is far beneath us
and will never be as equal?

Who are we to feel
that a face can look unusual?
That a face must be a canvas
and be painted to be beautiful?

Who are we to judge?
To say love is prohibited?
To think below of others?
To feel minds can be limited?

I look at all your Facebook posts
Is that you I really see
Or did you just put makeup on
And do my eyes deceive

Pick out the perfect lighting
**** that belly in
Angle the camera perfectly
To erase that double chin

You post a few comments on
How life could not be better
In your plight to help humanity
And all things that really matter

I see you care about what you share
With the pushing of a button
But does it go beyond, who knows
Guess it's better than nothing

Our Facebook lives I often find
Is just like Hollywood
Where we hide behind white lies
To make ourselves look good

So as I gaze at your Facebook page
I wonder if you're who you say
Or if you're someone other
Than who you try to portray

Mutual...
Like the beach,
sparkling with radiance.
Openly welcoming the soothing
caress of the waves.
Allowing them to
playfully tug
at her toes
before retreating back
into the ocean tide.

Mutual...
Like the leaf,
that shines amber
in the autumn sun.
Silently inviting the wind
to sweep it off the threats
of the brittle twig.
Trusting the breeze to set it aloft,
in a whimsical spiral
before releasing it gently
into the safety of the ground below.

Mutual...**
Like you and I.
As we confidently
match each other's
gait in a display
of song and dance.
Though our exchange
remains unworded,
the promise of love
rings clear within
the clasp of your
willing hands
in mine.

but the inflection of the human voice
saying God only knows,
she doesn't say it like God
is the only one
who knows;
not: God, only, knows,
but God only
knows.
She knows and says nothing.
God is not one to kiss
and tell.
She keeps some things
to Herself, doesn't share everything
with me. Think
how sad a couple of souls
would be if truly
one, grown
so together that they are
once again alone.
God only knows
what I'd do without you;
nothing more.
no one can tell me, so I'll wait

There's something going on
Between me & the poem
A reason to rhyme
A notion to float
Was it something I read
Something once wrote
That's spinning the time
Between me & the poem

As things continue to grow
Between me & the poem
Call it second sight
A perfect pitched tone
Where it has lead
Or where it's still going
I'm sure we will find
Between me & the poem

I'm holding out hope
Between me & the poem
That I'll find in time
What I already know
In all that's been said
Inside of the fold
With the shedding of light
Between me & the poem

So..there's this girl....
that I cannot avoid,
inside and out,
she is destroyed.

So, this girl...
I see everyday-
it's too difficult,
to live this way.

Sometimes, this girl,
comes close to danger;
igniting my temper-
this close stranger.

Sometimes..this girl...
just needs a friend,
someone to care,
not pretend.

Except, this girl...
doesn't make it easy,
always giving excuses-
big, little *****.

So, this girl...
a test of my patience,
making it harder;
we have no relations.
