As time, like deep waters, flows past me,
I sit on the banks, legs in knee deep
splashing the water a bit, waiting to see
your love's canoe, slide gingerly up to me

Your absence is like a candle flame
sure to wear itself out some day
but my love for you is a warm spring
eternal, its source deep within

I find myself thirsty, for a sip of the elixir
that must surely flow, from your lips
like a patch of parched soil, in the desert
waiting to be touched, by rain, for years

It is not in my nature, to be patient
when what I desire, is out of my reach
But the cactus must wait, amid others gay
for when it flowers, all will be okay
Hearts have no patience at all, do they?
If I were ever to chance upon, a real life Genie
and being ever so kind, he granted me wishes freely
I wouldn't waste any time, and ask him quite loudly
'Give me a Flying Carpet, and make the sky cloudy!'

Astride my bed with wings, I would swiftly reach the sky
and dive through the clouds like through butter a hot knife
feeling the wind in my hair, laughing with unbridled glee
as a soaring eagle feels in the air, light, and free

Next I'd become a Lion, to roar and roam the jungles deep
Growling and tearing into poachers, and savoring the meat
I would rule all the mighty creatures, as their rightful king
and all the forest's denizens would my praises sing

Soon after I would ask for a ship, and a crew of souls brave
I would visit all lands afar, upon my Master of waves
without a single glance behind and not a spot of bother
I would see and feel and taste all the world has to offer

From above I'd go beneath, diving as a blue whale
The murky depths of the oceans whistling past my tail
All the wondrous sea dwellers, and all the buried wonders
would become a part of my enchanting under sea tale

Last of all I'd ask the genie, to build with his hand
a nation built for all the poor orphans of every land
where they eat and drink and make much merriment
and also study, play, and sleep with gladness in them
Magic, as alluring as it is impossible
Can you be so kind, as to let go
of your own ego, that wily old foe
and put your head to the ground, if needs be
to hear the pain, of a man all at sea?

Can you be so loving, as to forget
your own desires, without regret
and step into the fire, if needs be
to soothe away the pain, of a heart much aggrieved?

Can you be so calm, as to not care
for your own fears, and truly dare
to leave behind all you know, if needs be
and run to the rescue, of a child in need?

Can you be so strong, as to ignore
all the aches and pains, all the cuts and sores
and rise again and again, if needs be
to give a helping hand, to the tired and weak?

Can you be so brave, as to look through
the bluff and bluster, of men cruel
and call a ***** a *****, as it should be
and risk a beating, for the cause of the meek?

If you can, come with me my friend
we shall walk to every corner of every land
we shall keep going till we can go no more
and spread Love, let that magic untold, unfold
Do you know what true compassion is?
To see the world, from a child's eyes
is to behold life, without disguise
awe and wonder, each moment a prize
the whole world is a puzzle, each piece a surprise

A tune is for singing, a bell for ringing
Stairs must be hopped, a balloon mustn't be popped
Stars can only twinkle, a toy must jingle
All things must be gazed at, then probably tasted

Just for a lark, she might mimic a dog's bark
like the crow caw, or like the *** guffaw
there is little her eyes, have not tried on for size
all is hers, till told sternly otherwise

A puddle is for jumping, and so is the bed
Candy is for stuffing, till her mouth turns red
A hop, a twirl and away we go
Walking is for fools, she is ever on her boat

So stop for a while, and sing with your child
shake a leg, do a jig, let go and unwind
For not very long, will your child dance along
if she thinks she is alone, in a world so monotone
Little girls are the most adorable.. why must they grow up? :)
There comes a time, in every man's life
when he faces the true test of being alive
when from deep within, he must draw out
what for thousands of years has helped him survive

The will to fight, the will to push forward
no matter the odds, no heed to his fears
lift up the sword, and so push onward
he must pay the price, and shed no tears
Not give in to despair, nor grow feet of lead
at the altar of fate, he mustn't lose his head

Charge on he must, blind though he be
for that what he loves, to be truly free

What price is enough, deemed worthy
of a breath of fresh air, solemn and free
Loved ones he may lose, tears be of no use
Fight on he must, or in vain is their loss

Charge on he must, blind though he be
for that what he loves, to be truly free

He must not look back, nor for a second hesitate
Protect the weak and the old, before it's too late
Care most for those, battered and bruised
Spare not those, who be brittle or obtuse

So be strong, my friend, hold nothing back
The time is nigh, for your final attack
Charge on you must, blind though you be
for that what you love, to be truly free
He is just a pronoun here. I intend the same, for men or women.
English is most inadequate when it comes to pronouns. :)
When the sun fades away, paving night's way
and the moon swoops in, riding a swift chill
as we sit on the sand, held in the moment's sway
i reach across and tuck, a curl gone astray

It seems like yesterday, strangers we were
the tide came and went, but I wouldn't stir
bobbing along the sea, a boat without an oar
drifting along to where, I couldn't say anymore

then you waltzed in, like a cool summer breeze
when i glimpsed you at first, time stood still
my heart that had gone dead, knew life again
a smile and a skip later, my demons were slain

I've never known love to hold magic such
as if I were a violin, strings begging to be touched
and you played a dream, that ripped me apart
kiss me my love, now that you've stolen my heart
Like sitting with an old friend,
chuckling away with a simple ease
wishing the moment would never end
the stress finding its release

Not a word need be said,
just lazing away, the mind at bed
the heart at peace, gaily skipping along
we're no strangers to this song

A shared memory, of times gone by
that rakes up tears, but we don't cry
seeking solace in the others arms
we come closer, and softly sigh

A song we love, for so many years
the shoes come off, rub off the wear
we dance and dance, till there is no more
every moment a dream, every day, every year

What comes next, we both know
but each day is spent, in blissful fog
each hopes to be the first one to go
for life without the other, would surely be a bore
An old couple, still in love, still having fun.
