I am one who always watched the sunset,
The end of the day is where I lived,
I never saw the sun on the rise
Or knew what the morning had to give.

I missed all those years so full of sunrise
Left there behind unenjoyed
I knew the dawn as just a noun,
A word I never understood.

But then I woke one morning to the sunrise
And saw all the colors of the dawn.
That was the day you came into my life
And made it a joy to carry on

The sacred, elemental fire of the sunrise
Burned hot between us from the start
The sun rises high every day for me now
Where the dawn is always in my heart
1.

Let me dig my roots
Up and out of your taut flesh,
You are salted soil.
All the passions of my long life
Are dust in the road behind me,
And all of that precious dust
Was nothing more than foolishness.
The trees around me
Have no names,
And the wind I feel
Blows from no direction.
The river I see is just a river
That stirs no memory,
And I know not where it goes
Nor whence it comes,
And I know not that I know not.
The rapids roar,
But they say nothing,
And I hear nothing,
But the sound they make.
I know the ones I love and loved,
And love comes flowing back to me,
And love is all that matters here,
By this river, under this tree.
Reconstruction of an old memory
Age
Age is just a number
That's what they say
It'll catch up day by day
So you have to be clever
Cherish those little moments
Appreciate all of the love
Never take it for granted
Because in a blink of an eye
Everything will pass you by
Live your life to the fullest
The forest has been waiting for you
Patient but forever it has
Been quietly pining for you to return
Its heartbeat's track of ballads

The doe appears out of nowhere
There's a screeching of wheels
That's how I think of you
A beauty the world is always narrowly missing

The sky has been calling your name
But  you forgot how to listen
Long ago you once joined feathers to clouds
And in sunlight made them glisten

The cat lurks in the shadows
There's a midnight cast to her back
That is how I think of you
A haunting spirit with grace but no definition

The sea has been forever taunting you
Its crashes add to your fear
The knowledge of that waterlogged creature
Somewhere deep down there

The breeze catches your hair
There's a soft roll of thunder in the twilight
That is how I think of you
A gentle storm to rock a child to sleep
Wisdom takes careful steps.
She knows that hasty footing
Leads to harm.  To avoid falling,
Or stepping on something deadly,
Wisdom takes careful steps.

I walk into the river to forget my troubles
I walk into the river to feel again
I walk into the river to remember good times
I walk into the river to feel no more
I'm begging you to break my chains.
I'm asking you to carry my pain.
I'm sitting at your mercy seat.
I'm crying at your holy feet.
I cannot dance, and I cannot sing.
I know you have a plan for me.
I have heard that you have paid my fee.
I am trying to set my sight on thee.
I'm begging for eternal grace.
I need your help to run this race.
I am not about to get in a debate about religion. I don't care if you completely despise it. This poem describes where I am at right now. Yes, I believe that my God reigns, but I will not fight with you over it. If you don't agree with religion or like this poem, just move along. Simple as that.
no, no, no
don't go down that road
you know that's not where happiness is found!

no, no, no
don't try to fit her shoes
you weren't made to walk her ground!

no, no, no
don't let them tell you where to go
you weren't meant for the background!

no, no, no, no, no
don't stop kicking now
everyone else has drowned. . .

oh
don't die on me yet
only water does surround!
