Given her nature,
She lied more than she loved him,
As to her, this was love.
Taught to think only of herself,
His world collapsed around her.
Weakened by her beauty,
His broken heart held together by faith,
A hopeless romantic,
Guided by a love, blinded by passion
He awaits something that doesn't exist.
So often many love like this- hopeless.

Tired eyes,
chasing street dreams.
Life ain’t always what it seems.
Bright light blind.
People run schemes.
Snipers focus their beams
Night terrors tarnish dreams
Pain is being,
feeling it, is to believe.
Cowards seek only to deceive.
Hear sayers only speak,
After the truth leaves.
Too many fakes for me.
Real should recognize real,
Lately, I can’t believe what I see.
My trying to change the world
Instead, it changed me.
I was better off being me,
Cause that’s how its meant to be
I am starting to fear that I am loving you to death
That the silent faith in this quiet embrace
Is pushing you the wrong way
I know that you waver with the passing days
But I can't find it in me to say
Or scream, or yell, or do what it would take
To make you even turn your gaze
To just see how you are so far away
I know where your path leads
Yet I stay silent
I mean I may share
A whisper here or there
But that is far from what you need
You need me to leave
To let my absence speak louder than the words I never said

Isn't it wonderful:
the way you become
so enveloped
in a world
that isn't your own?
the way
people romanticize you
sitting on a park bench
trying to escape
from the life
you call yours?
the way your emotions
run wild
reading about adventures
you'll never have?
when you've become
so numb
to the world around you
because you've read
too much fiction
to know the difference
between reality and fantasy?

I'm certain
That your rib cage is hollow,
And your heart
Is misplaced on your tongue.
I know that the light
That shines in your eyes
Isn't the same
As the one in the sky,
And I can't decide
Which is brighter.
