You said I didn’t know the full story,
That you had a plan, a reason, a path
For why you stayed with someone already taken
While I stood on the side, waiting, breaking.
You blocked me out, piece by piece.
First the calls, then the words,
Then even the chance to simply ask,
“Why him? Why not us?”
And now my things remain with you,
Like fragments of who I used to be
Before silence became your language
And pain became my company.
I won’t beg to understand the plan
You never trusted me to hear.
But I’ll ask simply, quietly
Can I take back what’s mine, when you’re clear?
Not because I want to fight
Or reopen doors you’ve long closed,
But because dignity is packing what’s left
And leaving with eyes that know.
You chose a man who cannot be yours fully,
And in doing so, you let go of someone who was
Someone who never needed a plan,
Only honesty, presence, and trust.
So I won’t wait with expectation.
I won’t knock where I’m unwelcome.
But I’ll return once, to reclaim what’s mine
Then I’ll leave everything else behind.
