being a poet, i live through the words
i transplant emotions i've found
no matter how they think it's absurd
these words keep pouring down

being a human, i'm cursed with these thoughts
what else am i to do?
i write them down to untie the knots
just trying to think it through

being a poet, that's for the birds
i try to sing to the clouds
i set my pain free through my words
the words i can't say out loud

I was asked the question
“who do I read”
well, there's nobody special
that's not what I need

am I here to seek pointers
no, not at all
the way that I write
it's not been my call

I simply write down
the words that I'm given
then share them with others
you know, the folks who be livin'

so correct if you must
that's if it makes you feel better
punctuation and spelling
right down to the letter

but I won't be changin'
anytime soon
so I hope you don't mind
I'll keep singin' my tune

This man will protect you
When you need him most
Make you feel safer
And always be there

Sometimes he will cry with you
Shed tears with your pain
Hold you when you need comfort
And give you feelings of security

But this man has many sides
A burning passion in his heart
He has a hunger to be fed
He is a victim of his lust

Sometimes he says the wrong things
Misunderstands some of the signs
When a woman only needs to be held
Forgive him if he is blind to desire

For a woman is a creature of beauty
That all men are driven to want
We can not stop wanting to love you
We can not stop this need for you

A woman is a delicate flower to care for
And we need to help it bloom, to cherish
Not only to be lost in the sweet scent
But to always to allow it to grow

This man knows sometimes he is wrong
All he wants is to be needed, to be desired
To feel wanted, to know he is loved
The grace of any woman, makes any man

Her eyes are closed
Her beauty still decides to show
Fast asleep inside her head
If not for her I would be dead
She's snoring soft but ever so
She's the cutest thing I know
