first
i let myself weep
then slowly
my heart bleed words
dropping into these tattered pages
eventually
forming lines
and
making rhyming rhythms

When the waves peaked
the sunlight broke
through their belly,
filling the undertow
with stained glass,
blues, and greens.
At the foot of
something holy,
you felt like a child.
If you still
spoke to a God
you would have
done it then.
Instead, you scribbled
short prose
onto wrinkled
receipt paper,
released them
into the ebb.
You thought,
this sadness,
like the ocean,
belongs to all of us now.

If I could be there, I would hold your hand to give hope when needed.

If I could be there, I would wrap my arms around you and blanket you in my given warmth.

If I could be there, I would lend my ears and listen your woes, dreams, and hopes.

If I could be there, I would gaze into your eyes as so you could see the joy in them from you.

If I could be there, I would encourage you always to let you know how much you can accomplish.

If I could be there, I would offer my time and shoulders as to lean on when needed.

If I could be there, I would speak kind words and say how a Beautiful soul you are.

If I could be there, I would show just how much more wonderful you made knowing you, the best of my days.

Although I cannot be there, know that I will still stand by your side.

somewhere among the oaks and pines
i search, trying to find a sign
with the sight of the climbing vines
i am defined by nature's lines

the water shines my peace of mind
beside the brook, where ivy entwines
i find brightness, no longer blind
in the guiding light of God's designs

I think that I am all alone
then the wind whispers to me
telling me age old secrets from the trees

I think that I am all alone
when a lightning bug lands on me
it flits, it flights, it lights up the night

I think that I am all alone
when I look up to see a shooting star
no longer wondering where you are

and I just smile and send up my wish and prayer
to that wondrous castle in the air

God bless the brittle ones
they have no anger, they have no guns
God bless the little ones
they are daughters, they are sons

God save them from our fate
they are new to the human traits
God save them from the wait
Lord take them straight to the gates

God bless the rising dawn
it's a new day for living on
God bless who's already gone
they are daughters, they are sons

God save them from our hate
they are new to these fateful straits
God save them from our weight
Lord take them straight to the gates
