Friends are a lot like
leaves of a tree,
or roots of a tree.

They're in your life for
a few seasons and fly,
or in your life forever...
Maybe this metaphor is why I feel so uprooted anymore...

Her walls are
indestructible,
I throw rocks, stones and catapult boulders,
I chisel away through nooks and crannies trying to find a weakness,
I hit it over and over with a sledgehammer,
Yet no matter how hard I hit the wall
I cannot knock it down,
I have merely chipped my way into her heart.
A story about 2 people who are in love, yet one being an open book the other being closed.

If only our younger selves had known
That promises aren't made to be kept
But to drown us in false hope.

If only I had known
On the day we
Promised,
                  arranged,
                                   decided,
That when you never showed
It was for that reason.

This time there was no "if only"
Just the inevitability of the end of lives
Yet still I waited 'til darkness grew.

So now I'll join you
Walking through the sea
We promised to see.

"You're tough", she said.
And I thought.
Am I tough because I really am
Or I'm tough because I've got no choice but to be one?
I hope I'm the former.
