The Fire Burns
Lost in space,
in your arms,
as comets trail.

Asteroids crash,
as stars go nova,
your sun shines on me.

Memory seared,
with thoughts of eyes,
burning into my soul.

Wishes voiced,
but never come true,
as she walks away.

I watch her sway,
into the distance,
but I cannot shake.

The piercing eyes,
molten stare,
of one I wish was mine.

Darkness consumes,
my mortal coil,
soul lost completely in the toil.

Stars twinkle,
red, white, orange and green,
but all I see are the blue ones .

As I float alone,
weightless, with no path,
through the universe.

Never lie to the same poem twice
save it for the next one
or better yet don't tell it at all
for a lie no matter how beautiful
it may sound
or sweet it may taste
rolling off the tongue
will always leave behind
a sour smell
to linger in the mouth
of the past and present
and more often than not
carry knives into the future

Never kiss a new lover
with an old prayer on your lips
it will not bloom
to love or lust
only heartache and embarrassment
be alone and lonely and miserable
until there is no stain or trace
of old fire burning
or cinders glowing
or ashes still smoldering
forming the face and the name
that no longer cares
for your prayers

Never tell the truth to a kiss
that whispers only lies
when speaking of love
and dances with serpents
that tend to planting seeds
of venom and lust
in the skin
and the core of pleasure
that will only wither
and rot on the vine

be patient with yourself
be kind to yourself
time and life will pass
and pass too quickly
and pass too slowly

wait and listen

you will find
what you need
as it finds you...

unexpectedly

and then you can
kiss the love
that whispers in dreams
while only speaking the truth

You
I met you at church,
you we're the ultimate guy

I couldn't even mumble a word,
but I tried even I'm shy

You were a snob,
and I was a bit dissappointed

And not too later,
You approached me instead.

Oh how funny life goes,
that was almost 9 years ago

Still I find you my ultimate boy,
and I'm proud how you have forego.

The doorstep we sat
Frantically eating ice cream,
before it melted

My sister would laugh
with her blonde fringe, big blue eyes
and round chubby cheeks.

Most simple image
Yet it captures a fragment
Of my purest soul.

One that dreams a dream
inside a wrapped up moment
For my heart only.
Oh, I remember the days like it was yesterday. In the summer sun with our ice creams
melting on the doorstep of my grandmas house! 4 Haiku's making 1 poem :)

Depression can be addictive
As we're pulled into the void
A place where we find comfort
In self pities we employ

Before the sun
Before the dawn
I am often
Up and gone
Not a care
Or despair
It's more then just
A mask I wear

But I know
How it is
I was once there
Beware
Depression
Is addictive!

We are members of a poetic society
A unique learning class
We may or not be good at other things
But mentally we kick ***

We value all our words
Cherish our thoughts not heard
We are on the road to self discovery
Choose only words that we feel tell our story

We see the world differently than most
The world makes us.... then breaks us
So we write for survival and to give hope

Some say our heads are in the clouds
It is safer there in our own creative playground
We are miles up and never want to come down

No use for conformity
We escape the constraints of uniformity
We break out from the box ~ find new ground

I suppose
but
she always
knows.

You can't fight your feelings
when your only weapon
is your courage
and you have no protection
for your heart.
