You beg me to keep fighting, where’s yours?
You ask me to grow, have you?
To quell the demons inside me, draw power over them
I can still hear yours running free and hurting both you and me.

You ask me to grow and change
Is it too much to ask you to do the same?
Talk to me, tell me what you need
I’m growing and changing, just like you wanted

Yet, I see you not budging an inch
Leaving me trapped, caught in a strain

You told me, your lovers and friends, they all have outgrown you
They all leave in the end…
What else are they supposed to do?
As you give them the chance to ascend
And you descend

You saved me from the dark abyss we were both drowning in
Threw me out as you sunk deeper
Now, it is my turn to save you
I hold out my hand for you
“If I can do it, so can you” I cry out

Will you take my hand? Let me help you?
Or will you sink further, drowning in the cold, dark silence?

Life wears me out with its
twists and turns, and
hairpin curves.
I keep waiting for
a long, peaceful stretch
of a highway, bathed in
the rising sun.
A golden wheatfield to
to the left, a moss-covered
pond with dragonflies to
the right.
The road turns to gravel
and climbs rapidly uphill.
There are signs along the
way that promise the world.
The road gradually turns
to dirt and ultimately
disappears.

He's at work, I'm home alone
Our mutual absence falls like a silent hammer
The distance carving deep into our hearts,
Slowly driving us apart
Our shared lives, a distant memory

My partner, so lonely, is breaking
As I scramble to fill the hole it's making
His face, the only one that comforts me
His arms, I miss wrapped around me
We long for what we knew

Times of laughter and fun,
When two hearts beat as one

In desperation and hope,
I reach for him again

Lovers, only by title
As our worlds seem to drift
Emotions spent, led to discontentment
Is there more? Is this the final score?

I hope to hear him say
He loves me all the way
Through the storm, we attempt to walk together
In hopes for reprieve

To be in each other's arms
Once again
In response to badwords' poem "Perseverance"

My good friend helped me, much like his.

Sometimes, you have to let go.
Be your own you and be openly you

Those who are true
Stick like glue

The fakes will give up their stakes
I'm telling you now
So you don't have to go through what I've been through

Be unapologetically you
The ones who will love YOU
Will find you
And never give up when it's hard too

you said
we were a destined love
just right person
wrong time
and so i loved you
in that space between
sleep and awake
where the weight of your kiss
still lingered
like peter losing wendy
wondering just how long
i was meant to wait
for you
to come back to me.

it's july
and we're falling out of bars
incense clinging to our hair
chasing the last
of the saccharine sun
each strawberry stained kiss
introducing us to god

it's july
and we're hiding
under satin sheets
moonlight dancing
upon naked flame
sticky fingers
trying to hold us together
your teeth find my skin
and i can never find the words
to tell you how you've marked me
like spoiled fruit
in the summer heat

it's july
and each amber scented day
leaves me longing
for the month we stole
your eyes met mine
and it felt like a wound mending
before slipping away
with the autumn breeze

it's july
and all i can see is you.

Boss,

I hope you are ok wherever you are. There isn’t a day that goes by when I don't think about you. My dreams always seem to involve reuniting with you again. I know I probably never will be able to but my brain is only showing me my greatest desire.

I’m not doing well without you..
What I did. It isn’t worth it. Nothing is…
I want to go back. I want to hold you in my arms again and tell you I love you
I want to kiss your forehead again and be able to rub my hands across your soft fur
I want to go to bed with you beside me, sleeping peacefully
You were my whole world, I hope you know that. My soul is shattered now you’re gone
I beg the powers that be for your return to me.
However, I know, I don’t deserve it
My reason to live
Still belongs with you

I’m not sure how to continue. Honestly, I’m not sure it’s worth it anymore. Your life was the most precious thing to me and I failed you. I wish to reunite with you one day Patches, tell me where you are and I’ll follow you there, even if it’s to the depths of Hell, I don’t care. I just want my life with you back. I want my reason to live back

I want my daughter back
A letter I wrote to my daughter, I miss her greatly

You think you have everyone eating out of your hand
Barely & Oats-
I say, parley
Let me speak to the captain
Or whoever it is that steers the rudder
And commands the oars.
I see before me terrible animals
And in all, worse men.
You think it some great gallon,
But, to me, it looks to be
Much closer to a life boat
Punctured with holes.

We are old friends,
This void and I.
Our paths would cross
From time to time.
Pupils both of the abyss.
Kicking rocks into the chasm,
Skimming stones across the mist.
Like all old friends we parted
Started ways that are our own,
Though we pick the path we tread
We do not own the road.
You took the turn to summer,
I chose the way of snow.

Those who walk in winter know
Warmth lives within the cold.

Homeless and roaming the
streets like an orphan.
It was the dead of winter, and
I was still alive—barely.
My ex-girlfriend let
me crash on her couch for
a few days.
She didn't smoke.
I did,
so whenever I wanted
a cigarette, I went out in
front of her
apartment and lit up.
One night, bent on nicotine,
I entered the January thaw.
As I had my
smoke fix,
a man with a
huge Rottweiler slowly
walked by.
The dog caught sight of
me, and gave me a low growl.
The guy talked to
his pet like he was
his best friend.
'Leave him alone, that's his home;
let him smoke.'
The dog knew better, and
glared at me.
He barked loud and viciously.
'Leave that poor man alone.
Let him enjoy his cigarette,
that's his home, '  the man said.
A small dog began
yapping in the distance.
The man said,
'Oh great, you've upset that little dog.
Come on, let's go.'
The Rott gave me an evil look, and
sauntered off.
He recognized his own
kind.
He also knew that there
was something different about me.
He could smell it,
almost taste it.
He knew I was a mongrel
and a stray.
He knew I didn't
belong.
