a tree so strong
never moving
stand your ground
though confusing
to love through the night
though you can't see
to trust with blind faith
this could never be me
enduring through all
with hope so vast
loving all the while
I give hope to those steadfast

The whippoorwhil
endlessly chants her rhythm:
into boughs of leaves
making the pecan trees sway,
begins the dancing-
on the wind:
playing a faint flute,
clapping doves, sit and watch and coo,
all this gaiety to do:
this wind song is beautiful,
I think of you.

Listening to the rain...*
A little comfort for the pain.
If I were to fall in love again,
It would have to be the right person.
Or the one who broke my heart.
Mirror mirror on the wall
These words we heard when we were small
A story of a witch with a tainted heart
And a beauty from worlds apart
A story we see everyday
But this time it isn't evil's turn to fray
As good seems to fade away
And our best isn't enough to make it stay
Heavens no longer give a helping hand
Making the world perish as we stand
Sounds of barking hounds fill the air
Yet we do nothing but freeze and stare
Stare at what our actions have done
Grave enough not to be swept away by the sun
Tell me mirror, Is the fault our own?
Whoever hasn't sinned can throw the first stone
Have we reached the point where we sin without hesitation
Alas, we justified our eternal damnation
Mirror mirror on the wall
I wish I could once again be small

fly
not magic
just static
fuzzy slippers slipping
along the  carpet
only heat
my  stone cold bones
are feeling
          today
I wrote a version of this poem when I lived in New England about seven years ago. It's been   so  cold  this  year so far  so early in the  season , I brought this  sucker back from  the dusty archives !

There are always going to be people that don't like you
And if you waist all your time wondering why
Then you'll never see the beauty of all the people who do like you
And that's the biggest shame of all
